About this deal

This song was inspired by the March 5, 2001 shootings at Santana High School in Santee, California, where 15-year-old Charles Williams walked into school with his father's gun and fired 30 shots, killing two students and wounding 13 others. The shooting was remarkably close to where P.O.D. was working that day, and inspired this song. The ARIA Report: New Releases Singles – Week Commencing 11th March 2002" (PDF). ARIA. March 11, 2002. p.26. Archived (PDF) from the original on February 22, 2008 . Retrieved June 6, 2021. They sat in the studio in San Diego, watching the news in disbelief. “We were going, ‘What’s happening with this craziness? What’s wrong with the kids today, with the youth of the nation?’” says Sandoval.

The song’s lyrics talk about the tragic stories of three adolescents: a teenage school student who gets shot by his fellow student at school, 12-year-old little Suzzie whose father left her leaving Suzzie to find love in the wrong places, and another teenage boy (“Johnny boy”) who goes on to commit suicide because he failed woefully in his attempts to be cool and fit in with his mates. Troy from Roscoe, Il-toby- I am just going to point out that people left England and came to the U.S. to freely interpret the bible in their own ways. They fought for so long against the church for their right to read and interpret it in their own eyes. All religions in some way require the person to have their own beliefs about religion, but are bound by vauge rules that all believers see as true. Galen from California , CaI was one of the kids who survived the shooting and when I heard about them writing a song about it I couldn't wait to hear it.Lacie from Whitefish, MtI love this song!!! I remember hearing it in school in 5th grade! it was a great song...Kinda scared me at first but it has good meaning

Kaveh from Urbana, Ohthe only thing i can say is thank you p.o.d. for making this song because it has helped alot of people out an that was there goal even if it touched one person it meant that the meaning of this song was understood Lane from Lansing, IaTruly a deep song, and all you people who think it's Christians that do this look up "voice of the martyrs" then you will find the truth. The song was released on Christmas Day of 2001 (December 25th, 2001) as the second single from the band’s fourth studio album Satellite. Satellite sold over seven million copies across the globe, making it one of the best-selling album of all time. Garret from Avon, MnOne of the 4 Live songs that are on the DVD disc of the Satellite re-release [2002]. The Others being "Set It Off", "Without Jah, Nothin'", and "Outkast".Sarah from Toronto, CanadaIt was also used on an episode of Boston Public when the students had a riot in the hallways. before you even start to insult people who have faith in God.. you might want to take into consideration that most of the music you would listen to actually pass on messages about GOD and help people who are going through terrible times..

The Columbine High School massacre was perpetrated by two senior students of the Columbine High School 17-year-old Dylan Klebold and 18-year-old Eric Harris. The massacre, which lasted from 11:19 a.m. to 12:08 p.m., claimed the lives of 12 students and a teacher. The shooting also left 24 others with various degrees of injuries. After the killings, the two perpetrators exchanged fire with police before committing suicide. The pair’s motives for committing the heinous crime still remain unclear. Josh from Corry, Patoby... wat if you actually knew the shooter.. yes religion does cause a lot of the problems between countries... but you need to overlook the fact.... that noone gives a s--t about wat u have to say... wat im actually trying to say is if u knew the shooter, how would u label him? would u label him christian still? i sure as the hell wouldnt Jillian from Delaware, Ohmy dad used to play this song all the time when it came out , and i never knew what it was called, and then i searched for it a couple months ago and couldnt remember most of the song, i heard it today on a video my health teacher showed us in class, it's a really good song . Steven from Gibsonia , PaI think there were scenes from this video that were shot in Harmar Township and New Kensington,PA,which is not far from where I live

As they talked, guitarist Marcos Curiel began strumming sombre chords. “We just started to jam,” says Sandoval. “Just to get out what we were feeling.” A vocal hook came to the singer: 'We are, we are… the youth of the nation.' Haleigh from Colorado Springs, Cowhen i was in 6th grade this song came out and i loved it. it remined me of how we are the ones that are going to be caring this nation in a few years. but the way its going we will never make it. Raoul Duke from Here, Careally powerful song... gives me chills everytime i hear it. wow. we really are the youth of a (deleted) up nation.

Rebka from Crapville, WyI like this song. It's really meaningful. P.O.D is a good group. They are also christian. The kids who did this were Christians, but everyone will label them differently to protect the religion. Religion causes 99% of the worlds death and conflict, so before you hide behind your bible get an actual understanding of it and dont just do the typical retard thing of interpreting it to suit yourself. Don from Hermosa Beach, CaToby i hope you read this you are the ignorent type of person that causes hate if 99% of all war and death is caused by religion you do realize everyone would be dead because the mass amounts of different religions and only 2% of the entire population have no belife you are a retardYouth of the Nation" contains three stories of adolescent tragedy in American culture. It begins by describing a teenager skating to school only to be shot by a fellow student. Lyrics go on to speculate whether or not the boy who committed the act felt unloved. Following the chorus, a 12-year-old girl called "little Suzie" is depicted as having been abandoned by her father and subsequently "finding love in all the wrong places." Finally, another teen known as "Johnny boy" fails to fit in with his peers and ultimately commits suicide by firearm, "[telling] the world how he felt with the sound of a gat [handgun]." [2] Music video [ edit ] Kristin from Silent Hill, AustraliaI am doing an english assignment on this song, it is a woderful and meaningful song. Jim from San Diego, CaThanks to P.O.D. for putting out a song that has meaning. This is a great song because it touches something the effects and concerns us all.
