When the Willoughby children confess that they were the ones that "orphaned" themselves and admit that they just want to be a proper loving family, it looks like Mother and Father have finally decided to change their selfish ways and be better parents towards their children. The Willoughby kids think that being orphans will immediately free them of their parents neglect and allow them free reign to do as they like, even citing James and the Giant Peach and Oliver Twist.

While the Willoughby children are messed up to a certain extent, they are absolutely correct on how atrocious their biological parents are.They concoct a “dream vacation” brochure for their parents, full with locations sure to leave the Willoughby children orphans themselves. You’re probably mostly familiar with Lois Lowry, author of “ Number the Stars” and “ The Giver” fame (I didn’t read “ The Giver” until I was in college, and now I’ve read it twice more since then. The Nanny Lampshades this, remarking that it's not a good place to raise Ruth both because she can't eat candy for the rest of her life and it's not baby-proofed. They leave the baby, who was named "Ruth" by Tim, on the doorstep of Commander Melanoff’s (voiced by Terry Crews) candy factory at the end of the rainbow.
