It looks like Damien Chazelle, the young, impressive director of Whiplash and the more recent La La Land, likes to surround himself with equally talented youngsters. Noise floor isn't as quiet as desired after lengthy ultrasonic cycles, but the crackle (no pops) gives the music a vintage context which eases the commercial sheen a bit. Set in modern day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams. The idea of doing not just a musical, but a musical that is about the realities of love and dreams in today's L. There's a bit of everything in here, a little vintage pop, some classical elements here and there, but jazz is what's at the core of this original score, and that's why we think it's great.This master release contains the 15 tracks soundtrack, for the complete score by Justin Hurwitz you can check out this release. For the latter film, he's chosen Justin Hurwitz to compose the score for his successful musical featuring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, and we have to say that this is a real keeper. Thankfully, seller is sending me a new one, however, it seems like the issue is the pressing rather than my copy. I'm not usually a musicals kind of dude, nor am I a jazz guy, however the songs are so well written and performed here it's hard not to fall in love with it.
