About this deal

Pat offers to babysit Nikhil during his round while Julian goes with Sara, Nisha and Meera to the cinema in Pencaster, but Nikhil cannot sleep without his green rabbit toy. Pat's reliability soon promoted him to the Special Delivery Service. If ever a call came through on his special moblie telephone that the service gave to him, he would in drive down to the SDS HQ in Pencaster and then transport his very special deliveries in one of his many different modes of transport that the service have to offer. Ted invents a new robot postman to help give Pat a rest. When it goes out for its test run and arrives at the post office, it scares Mrs. Goggins. When it gets loaded with the post, it causes havoc over Greendale. Pat and Ted follow after the robot in Pat's post bus. Pat's brown winter coat from the first series and Postman Pat and the Barometer was reused for Gran in the "Gran" episode, "Gran's Bike". It was also reused for Alf Thompson (whose puppet was used to play Horace) in the "Bertha" episode "The Burglars" and for Ted Turner in the "Bertha" episode "The Big Sneeze".

In Series 3, Kulvinder Ghir, Janet James, and Archie Panjabi joined to voice the new characters and the child characters, while Boyd continued to voice the adult females, Charlie and Sarah, Melissa Sinden and Jimmy Hibbert also joined to perform the animal characters' vocal effects and Angela Griffin joined in Series 5 to voice a new character. In Series 6, Lewis MacLeod replaced Barrie as Pat. In Series 7, Barrie left completely and MacLeod, Bradley Clarkson, and Dan Milne took over the rest of Barrie's characters.
