About this deal

Aside from that, it’s hard to come up with any real negative arguments against this tiny espresso maker. The ability to control everything from water temperature, to beans, grind size, and pressure means you can get espresso exactly how you like it. You’ve just got to want to spend the time working it all out. Getting a higher quality espresso than at most coffee shops is very achievable though. The Cafflano Kompresso portable espresso maker is the brain child of Korean coffee lover, Hangsan Yoon. Hangsan decided that he didn’t want to pay for expensive coffee from coffee shops orsplash out on a big complex machine. So, instead, he created this cheap, portable device.

The company was started by Hansang Yoon, a South Korean coffee lover, who didn’t like the idea of buying high-cost takeaway coffee all the time. So he scratched his own itch and developed the brewer. Cafflano Kompresso is a lifesaver on the road When traveling, glass espresso makers just aren’t going to cut it. So, Cafflano designed their espresso maker to be sturdy, able to stand up to whatever life may throw at it. And, it can certainly stand up to a large amount of pressure without breaking. In fact, the Kompresso is pretty indestructible – crucial for a travel-friendly espresso maker. 4. Pressure The only thing I can be a little bit worried about is the rubber ring sitting on the shower screen. A little bit of misalignment and I fear that an accident could happen. Hopefully, (like with the Aeropress) it’s easy and cheap to get a replacement. Made from non-BPA plastic, with some parts made of stainless steel, it doesn’t feel like it’s heavy-duty. But it can withstand a lot of pressure. This includes putting almost all of my 200lb bodyweight on it when I have messed up and ground my coffee too finely.

Cafflano Kompresso reviews

Is it easy to use? Straight out the box, no. It takes a little bit of getting used to but once you’re there you will be enjoying tasty, consistence coffee. Grinder (Mine is a Comandante C40 MK3 Nitro Blade – great for traveling without sacrificing quality coffee) This dinky little espresso maker needs gound coffee. So, for best results, you will need a coffee grinder to go alongside it. The Cafflano Kompresso requires fine espresso grounds. You may need to play around with your grinderuntil you find the ideal grind size. If you go too fine, then you won’t be able to push anything through. If you go the other way and end up too coarse, you will get a sour, watery espresso. Portable is stretch here—the 9Barista is very well made, but it does weigh more than three pounds. For a small apartment with limited kitchen counter space, or for those RV trips you've been plotting, it's perfect.

This brewer has many things going for it but speed is not one of them. Especially not when paired with a hand grinder. It can easily take 5-8 minutes to make a single shot, which is pretty damn slow. Cafflano Kompresso is a compact and light portable authentic espresso maker that uses a patented hydraulic system complied with Pascal’s Principle to boost the extraction force of espresso. This hydraulic compressor is designed to retain high-pressure over 9 bars throughout the entire extraction process, unlike other portable coffee makers that use pneumatic air compression and therefore lose pressure. It’s perfect for traveling, camping, outdoors, at the office, or anywhere on the go. The rubber rings designed to prevent leakages are the only part that looks like they might fail over time. But they are easily and cheaply replaced if this does happen. It should be mentioned that complaints of issues with the Kompresso are very rare. We didn’t encounter any problems but were only using it for a week.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Cafflano Kompresso is a lightweight device, mostly consisting of BPA-free plastic. The naked portafilter and shower screen are made out of etched metal, though. You do need to take the Cafflano Kompresso apart after each espresso shot. If you don’t, you are signing yourself up for stale coffee and demotion from Head Home Barista. However, this is a simple process. Once you have dialed in your grind it’s pretty easy to insert the piston and press it to the bottom. It’s possible to exert a lot of force and I’d say that the famous 9 bars are within reach. Can you expect espresso miracles from these new and cheap devices? Will it be able to deliver a god-shot? The Cafflano Kompresso is capable of producing some pretty decent crema
