About this deal

This was coming out during the release of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movie in 2002 and Bendis goes meta when he references the movie in the comic, which was fun, with cameos by Raimi and producer Avi Arad.

Fourth, its about youth, and the painful desire to cling to innocence as well as an urge to develop maturity. There are plenty of sexy bodies on display, some absurd and sexist along the way, but perhaps (I can't say) balanced by a fair share of opportunity to ogle the Spiderman physique. The girls in his life are minor roles, but then again so are the boys, and at least the girls fight their own good fights. Collects X-Men Adventures (1992) #1-15, X-Men Adventures (1994) #1-13, and X-Men Adventures (1995) #1-13. Collects Marvel Team-Up (1972) #61-62; Marvel Two-in-One (1974) #50; Fantastic Four (1961) #209-218, 220-221, 232-260; Fantastic Four Annual (1963) #17; Avengers (1963) #233; and Thing (1983) #2.

Success!

Collects Star Wars: Empire (2002) #7, 14, 16-27; Star Wars: Vader’s Quest (1999) #1-4; Star Wars (2013) #1-20; Star Wars Kids (1997) #1-20; and Star Wars 3-D (1987) #1-3. This is what a Spider-Man comic should be. I've reread issues #1-26 many times but this is my first time getting to #39 due to Marvel being annoying about printing collections and my neurotic need to read everything in a physical form. Peter Parker is a mega dork who constantly screws up while meaning well, and that's what makes him one of the greatest superheroes of all time. Longtime Spidey fans or new fans need to read the Ultimate series as it's the best run since the original 1962 run. It's also very good at being self contained and not requiring the reader to know too much about the Ultimates (this takes place in Earth-1610), with only a few non-Spidey characters showing up. Also has the coolest version of the Green Goblin in my opinion. Collects Amazing Spider-Man (2018) #1-43, 16.HU, 18.HU, 19.HU, 20.HU; Amazing Spider-Man: Full Circle (2019) #1; and material from Free Comic Book Day 2018 (Amazing Spider-Man/Guardians of the Galaxy) #1. Sorry to everyone who liked this, I really really really wanted to like it, but it just comes across with so little effort put into it.

Learning Curve (#8-13). Bendis really take USM to the next level with his second arc, and that's likely in part because the training wheels come off: we no longer know what's going to happen. But we also really get Bendis at his best, mixing together Peter and a crime narrative. The brutal reality of Ultimate Peter's life as Spider-Man is terrific, and so is his quest to take down the Kingpin. Meanwhile, we get improving characterization of supporting cast as Peter joins the Bugle, and then a terrific entire issue focusing on Peter and Mary [5/5]. Collects Incredible Hulk (1968) #369-400, Incredible Hulk Annual (1968) #16-18, X-Factor (1986) #76, and material from Marvel Holiday Special (1991) #2. Collects Conan the Barbarian (1970) #195-213, Conan the Barbarian Annual (1973) #12, and Official Handbook of the Conan Universe (1986) #1. Collects Avengers (2012) #1-23, New Avengers (2013) #1-12, Free Comic Book Day 2013 (Infinity) #1, Infinity (2013) #1-6, Infinity: Against the Tide Infinite Comic (2013) #1-2, Astonishing Tales: Mojoworld (2008) #1-6, and material from Shang-Chi: Master of Kung Fu (2009) #1.
