The other reason Lloyd Cole didn't like the book was because he didn't find Limmy, as a person, "likable" and I have to disagree with him here. Clearly funny and displaying intelligence (of "some kind") Limmy also comes across here as a sensitive and thoughtful man. I could talk about growing up and slashing my wrist and taking acid all the time and getting done for car theft and feeling like a mad freak that would never amount to anything.
