About this deal

Snip off the corner of the white icing bag first and pipe out small dots onto the prepared baking sheets. The dots will spread slightly after piping, but not much. Make the white dots no larger than 3/4 cm wide. Feel free to pipe out different sizes - these do not need to be perfectly even. Once done – leave your googly eyes out to dry (about 24 hours). You can leave them in the fridge or at room temperature. The longer they are left out the harder they will get. There are lots of things that I love about the fall. The weather is perfect, the leaves are gorgeous, and there are plenty of phenomenal recipes. Oooh, that’s an interesting question! I’m not sure how edible it would be in terms of taste, but I imagine you might be able to make these using cornstarch instead of powdered sugar. That being said, I think these googly eyes are best enjoyed as decoration as well. This project was far easier than I thought possible. Never one to do things by halves, I filled three trays with the eyes, and now I have literally hundreds of edible icing eyes, which should keep me going for a while! Do watch out for their appearance in some of my Halloween projects this month!

Once you have piped out as many eyes as you'd like, or your hand aches too much to hold the bottle any more, put the trays somewhere safe to dry. I left mine overnight, and they were dried out nicely ready for the next step the next morning. Here’s another simple boxed brownie mix that you can jazz up with leftover candy. It takes 10 minutes of prep and another 40 to cook. The difference is that you put your Halloween candy at the bottom of these. Plus, they’re homemade and not from a box. Do you regularly have a ton of candy left over after Halloween? If so, use it up by making these witch’s brew brownies.

What are you looking for?

They’re rich, fudgy, chewy, and chocolatey. Feel free to go a little crazy with the Halloween candy, though. However, that doesn’t mean they aren’t a Halloween favorite. You’ll load them down with M&Ms, peanuts, chocolate chips, and more. And don’t forget the fantastic pumpkin pie spice! It takes 5 minutes to have these ready for the oven and another 40 minutes to bake them.

Mix up the powdered sugar, corn starch, vanilla optional and water until an icing like consistency is formed. Cheddar Cheese Eyes - One of the most simple ways to add edible eyes to a sandwich or other savoury food is to cut ovals or circles from cheddar cheese (or other hard cheese) using mini bento cutters and dot them with food colouring or an edible marker pen. For full details of the spider bread roll below see the original blog post here. These Halloween brownies are a spooktacular treat that everyone will love. I’m so excited to share them with you today. You first make a royal icing by whisking egg white and icing sugar really well with a hand mixer. It should be whipped until they form soft peaks and become a little chewy. Then you can adjust the consistency with a little water so that it becomes so soft that it can be piped out and make a smooth hemisphere without making peaks on the surface. Sweet (Candy) Eyes - At this time of year it's easy to find fun eyeball shaped sweets - I found the jelly eyes below in our pound shop, and I've also seen lots of chocolate eyeballs around. With a bit of imagination you can find eyes in other sweets too, from fried eggs, dolly mixtures and smarties to chocolate buttons and flying saucers - anything round would work! You are so creative love, I absolutely love all your posts - and you make them so accessible. I find the thought of doing something puts me off as it seems like a big task, but actually you can do things super simply! I just need to follow your instructions! Let them dry over night. I usually don’t touch them for a good 24 hours. When completely dry they will just slide off the parchment paper. I store them in an airtight container and keep them in my spice cabinet for easy access. They last for up to a year.

However, you won’t have to wait for Halloween to make them. They’d also be great for a child’s birthday party! By the time you use all of your white, the first ones will be dry enough for you to start to put on your “pupil”. Just put the tiniest dot onto each ‘eyeball’. Place some in the center and then offset some for variation. They are supposed to be googley afterall! In a a medium sized mixing bowl: combine the sugar, starch, extracts (if using) and water. Mix together into a smooth, lump-free icing. When you add a candied pumpkin beside them, you can hang it up. You’ve given up on frightening and moved right into adorable. Babybel Eyes - I often use mini Babybel cheeses to add fun eyes to creative sandwiches. To make, simply cut the cheese in half, leaving the wax intact, and top with blueberries or raisins. For details of the sandwiches below, see the original blog posts here; monster sandwich, owl sandwich, funny faced bagel. Start by lining a couple of baking trays with greaseproof paper. To keep mine from moving around during such a delicate task, I secured the paper to the trays with a bit of sellotape.
