The women all thought that it was their old schoolfriend Elle who had invited them to the country house. But, there was no clear certainty that it was her, maybe this was the reason I didn't warm to them. They were all so gullible 🙈 But, this is where my detective, suspicious mind came into good use. Not that I did solve the mystery 🤣 I never usually do.

I did take three of the main characters with me though, as they slotted perfectly into the new story. We arrive excited for a weekend of reminiscing and reconnecting. A chance to step out of our uneventful lives for a while. This is the second novel I have read by A.J. McDine and it was fabulous. I really enjoyed the premise of THE INVITE and loved the fast pace. Be prepared for the unexpected! I loved the final twist and I would recommend reading this one to my friends and all thriller genre lovers. You cannot change the details of a meeting you were invited to by others. If you try to move the meeting on your calendar, Outlook will warn you that the organizer will not be notified of the change and the meeting on your calendar will be at the wrong time. The best thing about the book is that it had a lot of dark characters and literally anyone could have been the bad guy. The ending especially was brilliant. I was supposed to buddy read this book, but I was too excited and I finished it in probably a day or two. The writing style increased the tension with each chapter. It had multiple POVs. The tone of the book was grim and dark.

This is exactly why Sheryl is one of my favourite authors. I love every book yet she still manages to make them better and better which is not an easy feat!!

I was very impressed with the revelations and how everything intertwined together to make it even more thrilling and impactful. 😍 I had some guesses throughout as to what was going on, and every few chapters, my guess changed. At no point was I 100% sure. I was satisfied with the reveal at the end & I loved the very last chapter! A nail biter, for sure!
