Book have big problem with phasing. I need to elaborate a bit. Book have 4 large parts made of chapters. I have read every book, short story and novella in both the Horus Heresy and Siege of Terra series and this is a fitting beginning to the end if ever I heard one. I’m a big Abnett fan generally but I’m happy to ascribe some of the blame to him. He did write it. For all the loose ends there might be, part 1 wasn’t exactly economical in tying them up. Always start with a compliment; Jonathan Keeble is excellent, and I enjoy his performance every time. His characters and tone are consistent and recognisable, and the quality of his recording is clear and precise. Good job!

The genre. It is a dark space opera, high fantasy, with links to history and other literature - for example, Paradise Lost, the Odyssey, etc. (the original fantasy series’s). Are you for real?!?!? REALLY?!?!? One thing that bugs me above all other things from this article is that it is confirmed we will only get Sanguinuis vs. Horus duel in Volume II EVEN THOUGH THE EMPEROR IS ALREADY ON THE VS AND IS MAKING HIS WAY TO THE BRIDGE. I foresee so much bloat I'm going to cry. And now, we will have to wait another half year or more for Volume III which will be an extended epilogue probably. Discussion thread for the first instalment of the two-part finale of the Siege of Terra series. The Garro novella will be released in January. Skin color changes, with lips and nail beds that are pale, bluish, or, in people of color, purplish After reading part 1 i can already say the bloat is real and this is very much 1-2 books MADE into 3.This was always going to be difficult, so many strands to weave together, to tie up but unfortunately not all the sub plots were good. Hard to be too harsh on one of my favorite authors so i'll say that all in all he's done a reasonable job. Vintage Abnett? Not for me and I'm hoping for better with volume 2. Gaunts ghosts is probably his best work. Siege of Terra? Definitely Saturnine volume 4. Now, at the final hour of the final day, the Emperor rises. With him come his Angel, his Praetorian, and his Captain, all determined to enact terrible vengeance. Yet the hope is slim, for the Warmaster sees all and knows all, and the ultimate victory of Chaos is at hand. I wonder if this well tone down the purple prose. Given that he describes it as a continuation I doubt it. The use of lexiphane words spoiled my immersion. Its hard to keep in the flow of the thing if you are reading a description and have to look up what smaragdine means ( or lexiphane ). Knew this was coming, but not upset by it outside of the stress of trying to cop a limited edition again. Dan does a amazing job of bringing together a vast cast of characters from across the series and giving them all their due. This book is telling the story we know of the end of the heresy but constantly provides fresh revelations, deep cuts to 40K lore, brand new ideas and meaningful characterization.

The rampaging World Eaters won't stop Legio Mortis and Traitor Artillery from bombarding Eternity Gate from afar. They can also use giant claw-like contraptions to pull the Gate open or rip out chunks And the boys of Caliban, the Dark Angels going all weak at the knee's because of a little Typhus magic? They went at it like little girls,.until they were rescued by one enigmatic anti hero...no spoilers. Thank the emperor he was there eh? Difficult to accept their almost total capitulation and nah, I don't buy it. Never in all the ages of Terra has a lions son, or even a custodes felt so weak or fought so poor. So all we had to do was make it all work, make it coherent, make it fit together, fill in those gaps, and do justice to the well-known sections. You can’t let readers down by changing things, or by not giving them what they quite rightly expect to see. But readers also want to be surprised and to learn things they didn’t know. That’s a lot of hours spent planning, debating, arguing, inventing… I suppose what I’m saying is that we all knew it was a major project that would take years to complete, and we were all determined to stay the course and get it done. On the other hand, it seems genuinely unreal to finally be reaching the end. Someone needs to make a list of all the plot threads that currently are lined up for this book, top of my head its basilo flo, loken, keeler, perpetuals, any meaning to the erebus/arda thing. Tho probably forgetting some/lots.Now he's a meat puppet there's no investment in any conflict between him and other characters anymore because he's not a character anymore, he's more of a rabid dog than Angron is that really just needs to be put down. With all that said, the book deserves better than the three-star retirement home of mediocrity. Right here is the transformation of the 30k Imperium into the 40k Imperium, more than any other point in the Heresy series. The institutions that will define the setting we’ve known for decades are being made in the pressure cooker of the endless final day of the siege. The inquisition, ecclesiarchy, the malign fuel for golden throne and the birth of the cult of sacrifice are all in here in fascinating hints and suggestions. Which is just how Warhammer lore should be. There is a particularly noteworthy scene from Malcador’s point of view where he sits upon the Throne and we see the truly awful and eternal fate that awaits the man in gold. What incredible writing. What an incredible narration. Abnett and Keeble have always delivered and that doesnt change hear. The arch-traitor Horus Lupercal's forces have bombarded Terra and the Imperial Palace lies in ruins. With the Emperor's dream in tatters, he seeks only to rob Chaos of its ultimate victory… Starts off promising. Hope it stays like this. Not many books handle the details of Terra! so I'm really looking forward to it. But he does a great job and gives the right feeling already for fans of the whole 40k books in the start.
