When Barnacles, Kwazii, Peso, and Shellington find a mysterious hidden lake underneath Antarctica, Shellington is eager to find some new undiscovered creatures living in the red water. But why is the lake red? And are there actually any creatures living down so deep in the ice? Only Peso can save the day when a cone snail invades the Octopod and tranquilizes the crew one by one with his dangerous venom-filled harpoons. Gup-T - It was built after a sea pig, and is a rescue rover. It is probably going to be used for seafloor or land traveling hence the wheels. Kwazii and Dashi become entangled in a strange deep-sea creature - a siphonophore - and when a geyser blasts it toward the surface, the Octonauts must stop its ascent before it fatally bursts.Gup-D - a medium-sized Gup with retractable arms and legs. It's designed to do construction work. With its legs out, it looks like a crab, but with its legs in, it looks like a manta ray. The Gup-D is Tweak's favorite Gup. Also, this Gup is probably the one Shellington is the worst at piloting. He has crashed it three times. A baby alligator named Nipper stows away on the Gup K. Now the Octonauts must rescue him after he and Kwazii are swept out to sea. Gup-G - a Gup based on a salamander. Fitting because it appears in the episode The Yangtze River and in The Chinese Giant Salamander episode, the salamander captures Min the Mapmaker. More on that here. It will appear in Season 5. It has early screenings in Octonauts and The Caves of Sac Actun. It has retractable legs that expand to help it stand and walk on land and contract to move fast through the water. The mouth can open up and act as a way to enter or exit the ocean or land. It is able to fit everyone inside. Using its mouth, it can also release certain Gups. Gup-A - a multi-purpose vehicle and is Captain Barnacles' favorite. Its speed is moderate, but it has a turbo booster that can make it go almost as fast as the Gup-B. It is used in almost all missions. It's also been seen with other disguises in the toys and the episode The Decorator Crab. It's based on an angler fish.

The specials are double-length episodes that are first broadcast during the Christmas, New Year, or Memorial Day periods before being repeated alongside regular episodes. A young manta ray named Mirelle needs help finding the secret manta ray feeding grounds. But when she and the Octonauts finally locate it, they find themselves caught in the middle of a feeding frenzy! The Octopod's waterworks become clogged with frightened reef triggerfish. The Octonauts must find a way to flush them out. The Octonauts are chased by a whitetip shark only to discover all he needed was a pilot fish to clean his teeth, and he just so happens that they have just met a lonely pilot fish that is hungry for action. The Octonauts help a 100-year-old spider crab that has got his leg trapped in a giant clam whilst en route to his 100th birthday party. It turns out that Kwazii's afraid of spiders, but he still helps, even though he thought the spider crab was a real spider at first.Captain Barnacles' niece and nephew Ursa and Orson are going to get their Polar Scout Badges when they spot three walrus pups on a drifting floe which is on a crash-course with two icebergs. Will Captain Barnacles be able to save them and finally earn the Walrus Rescue Badge - the only one he hasn't got? Down in the darkness of the ocean deep, Peso and the Octonauts must help a tiny, injured dwarf lantern shark. But they have to find him first since he's so small!

Peso narrowly escapes when a hungry great white shark tries to eat him. Despite this he wants to help him after he injures his fin against the Octopod. The Octonauts use the Gup-X to turn the shark upside down and induce tonic immobility whilst Peso bandages, but the great white shark comes round and in the end, they escape by feeding him Tunip's fish biscuits to satisfy his hunger. An enormous elephant seal is brought into the Octopod to moult as moulting underwater is dangerous. But then he overstays his welcome in the Octopod. The "X" could possibly have been used to represent the number 10 as "X" was the Roman numeral used to represent 10. Kwazii crashes the GUP-E, leaving him and Peso marooned on a desert island inhabited by a fish who can walk on land. Their SOS message to the Octonauts is relayed in increasingly garbled form via the blenny, a blue fish a squid, and an angler fish.

Gup-O - is an upcoming Gup. It is featured in the books and the toy has already been released. There is a slight glimpse of it on Tweak's Octo-Tablet during the Great Swamp Search, as she scrolls through the Gups deployment menu. Also, a sort of construction plan for the Gup-O has appeared in the Gup-S in The Over and Under Adventure. Gup-P - inspired by the parrotfish, the GUP-P is a specialized, first responder emergency vehicle. with a simple press of the tail, this versatile Gup transforms into a medical station – equipped with an Octo x-ray viewer – where Kwazii can treat the parrotfish and transport it to safety. It can also make huge jets of bubbles. Captain Barnacles runs into an old friend - an Arctic fox named Professor Natquik - in Antarctica. They must work together with the other Octonauts to prevent a group of penguins from falling into an ice chasm. When red-hot volcanoes start a chain reaction of disasters across the ocean, the Octonauts must work together to face their biggest challenge yet. They use the recently created GUP-Z, (Z1, Z2, Z3, Z4, Z5, Mega Gup Z, and Gup Z Mantis Shrimp Mode), to save many creatures, including an Omura's whale, some chinstrap penguins, and many more creatures from various volcanoes and one giant volcano.
