This fast paced adventure story is the perfect follow-up to the popular Crater Lake. This is one to move onto when you’ve read Crater Lake, but that really isn’t a hardship because as debut books go, it’s an absolute corker. This book covers many important points about loyalty and being yourself but above all it is just a hugely entertaining (and spine-tingling!) read.Maybe it’s the bloodstained man who tries to stop the coach, maybe it’s the absence of welcoming staff, but something is definitely not right at Crater Lake activity centre. Then, at night, things get much, much stranger … but no matter what happens, don’t – ever – fall asleep! Get this exciting scary adventure book today! I really love this book because it mixes several genres together ; it has it's humorous side but it also is a little bit suspenseful and mysterious. It is also great because i can relate to some of it in places, for example a residential school trip! Let’s just pretend like everything’s normal. Our only advantage is that they think we don’t know what’s going on.’ There are three rules for surviving Crater Lake: don’t go anywhere with an adult; don’t follow any instructions you’re given; and don’t ever fall asleep…

Maybe it’s the bloodstained man who tries to stop the coach, maybe it’s the absence of welcoming staff, but something is definitely not right at Crater Lake activity centre. Then, at night, things get much, much stranger … but no matter what happens, don’t – ever – fall asleep! Next to aliens we also have friendships and making up. Because after Crater Lake things just broke apart for our group. Maks got a girlfriend, Ade and Kat weren’t being so nice to each other, Chets is still not OK with Karim (though we do find out that has a different reason than normal). I am happy to say that it fitted with the story. We needed all these teens to save the world. These kids knew what happened in Crater Lake and they are up for the challenge again. This book is a wonderful continuation of the themes developed in its predecessor - horror, comedy, friendship, bravery and trust - but the difficult transition of the principal characters from primary to secondary school gives it an added dimension. All are coming to terms with new friendship dynamics while at the same time having to band together to defeat a now more sophisticated enemy. The horrifying zombies have mutated and are now even more gruesome (think mandibles and stingers!) but the age-perfect comedy provides a perfect balance. All of them then had to get off the bus and walk all the way to the gate. It seemed a bit odd that they were not greeted by any Crater Lake staff and that they had to wait half an hour to meet Digger, the manager of Crater Lake. There was something creepy about this place! It’s another Bookwagon day in our house. The kids were so excited to get their latest books in the post. I am really enjoying this book so far. It is full of adventures and also some really creepy things happen. The two main characters have been rivals for over a year but now they must work together if they are going to save their class mates. It is fast paced and it makes the reader wonder what will happen next. Author Guy Bass introduces SCRAP, about one robot who tried to protect the humans on his planet against an army of robots. Now the humans need his... CRATE LAKE EVOLUTION is a horror sequel that successfully takes an already established monster and makes it scarier and fresh-feeling in the sequel. The characters in the narrative are totally believable and readers will find at least one that they can relate to and will probably see their friends in others. The relationships between Lance and his friends feel totally genuine and their interactions are typical for children of that age - the banter they share, the arguments they have, the feelings and emotions that they are experiencing and have towards each other.
