Emma: Regally vibrant, Luxion Purple keeps a bright tone even in the darker areas of your miniatures – great for Hedonites of Slaanesh and the Emperor’s Children . This is my favourite purple Contrast of all time! These were then shaded with Reikland Fleshshade. You want to make sure you’re using the new formula from GW to get the same effect and result as mine. It’s not too long to wait before the spawning pools are at maximum capacity and cosmic reinforcements arrive. Battletome: Seraphon will be along in the summer, after two new battletomes for Grand Alliance Death. We may even hear a whisper of these upon the Shyshian wind soon.

James created a spectacular feathered rainbow on his Lord of Change by thinning his Contrast paints right down to a glaze consistency with Contrast Medium . After the destroyer's reaction. In my turn the terms and dread moved up to finish off the praetor and tacs - termie shooting killed the tacs, dread double 1'd the multimelta at the praetor (!), then both charged. Praetor challenged and I refused with my serge. Praetor killed a wounded termie, and wounded another with sword. Dread whiffed against WS6, the power weapons did nowt , however the last chainfist got a wound through, and a failed save meant a dead praetor. Calivers and all my tacs shot at the terms, felling another.

Emma: This paint has a lovely jade-like tone, which is really intense and vivid. I love using it over Stormhost Silver on gemstones or thinned down for a different take on crystal blades than the usual blue. In a galaxy-spanning empire of a million or more planets, there are a multitude of regiments of the Astra Militarum , all sworn to uphold and defend the beleaguered Imperium of Man. Imagine how upset they all get every time the Cadians turn up and hog all the limelight.* I was also at Warhammer World last weekend, and managed to have a go wit hthe new contrasts. My base hope was that Kroxigor scales was roughly the equivalent of thinned Akhelian green, and I wasnt disappointed - if you look at the test model below, the right leg is pure kroxigor, while the left is 50/50 akhelian to medium - both applied in medium coats to allow both tinting and shading - you can see however that the akhelian is a little blotchy still. These are both over leadbelcher, so a little darker, but they'll look great over ironbreaker. I think I'll be converting to kroxigor to save time messing round with mixing paint.

Max: The Starborne are the cosmic cousins to the Coalesced. They’re still hulking reptilian warriors, but they’re infused with the energy of Azyr. To represent this, we painted some miniatures with a bright cerulean glow emanating from them, and we drew the rest of the palette from astronomical photography – lots of deep purples and dark blues. Pylar Glacier creates the illusion of an icy surface with no hassle. Briar Queen Chill and Dreadful Visage live up to their names, making them ideal for spectral phantasms or smoky apparitions, and Mantis Warriors Green offers a luminous green-yellow that’s perfect for bolts of wyrd energy. Whether they’re celestial Starborne or junge-dwelling Coalesced, the Seraphon are a varied army comprising saurians of all shapes and sizes. They look fabulous, and to find out how this huge range was painted, we got in touch with Max from the ’Eavy Metal team. I managed to get another game in yesterday, really enjoying the heresy, maybe more than 40k - less thinking about stratagems, more thinking about tactics.

Tyranids are known for their scaly and chitinous appearance, making Kroxigor Scales a natural choice for painting them.
