In his 1855 NEHGR article "Genealogy of the Descendants of Lawrence Litchfield," Abner Morse stated that Lawrence had "numerous connexions" with men from Egerton, Kent who immigrated with Rev. John Lathrop aboard the Griffin in 1634 and initially settled in Scituate before moving to Barnstable about 1640.
