The controller is weighty; it’s hard to believe the size is necessary now but, on the other hand, there is no HDMI out on the Mavic 3, let alone the ability to use an iPad Mini. In fact, the X7 uses the Super 35 mm area of the APS-C sensor (23.5×12.5 mm) in video mode and the full sensor size (23.5×15.7 mm) in stills mode. The video processing engine is built into the aircraft rather than the camera modules. It supports 5.2K capture at up to 30fps and 4K at up to 60fps when shooting in CinemaDNG. ProRes recording tops out at 30fps, with both 422 HQ and 4444 XQ available at various aspect ratios. If you shoot in H.264 or H.265 you can push the video up to 60fps. Measured when flying forward at a constant speed of 36 kph with the landing gear down in a windless environment at sea level, with gimbal camera and lens attached to the aircraft and without other accessories, and recording 4K/24fps H.264 (S35) video until the battery reached 0%. This resolution on the 3:2 sensor is the minimum required to deliver a true 6K video mode. With its 20.8 megapixel MFT sensor, the X5 camera can film in 5.2k resolution because of the limited width resolution (5280 pixels wide). The new color system consists of a new D-Log curve and a D-Gamut RGB color space. The Inspire 2 is capable of top speeds of 58MPH which is significantly faster than its predecessor and other drones on the market at similar price points. You also don’t need to worry about flying at high speed as there is in built sense and avoid technology that can sense potential collisions at up to 30m away. It is advised that for true protected flight you should maintain a speed of 34MPH or below – so be warned!
