About this deal

v1.2 - Universality for EU (European Union) & NA (North America) added by Mitch Altman; sleep mode added by ka1kjz Of course you could do something else entirely with it simply by firing up the Arduino IDE and writing some new code for the device’s ATmega328P microcontroller. As with the IR-enabled ESP8266 development board we looked at a few months ago, there are plenty of applications for an all-in-one board that allows you to communicate with the wide world of IR devices. Note that this kit will not work with LED signs, computer monitors (that are not also televisions) and display signs that don't have a remote-control port. Most TVs will turn on or off within a few seconds. But it may take up to 69 seconds for your TV-B-Gone® to reach the POWER code for your TV in its extensive database. We organized the codes to put the most popular ones first.

Here at TV-B-Gone®, we believe that children should be encouraged to watch TV as little as possible. TV-B-Gone® remote controls may be useful tools for kids to learn to turn off TVs in an enjoyable way. Of course, TV-B-Gone® remotes should not be used by children who might choke on small plastic items. Thanks for buying my invention, TV-B-Gone®, a universal remote control that is designed not only to turn TVs on and off but also to enhance your life. How you enhance your life is totally up to you, but mind if I ask you a couple of questions? Cool, thanks! Pin 5 (REGIONSWITCH) must be left floating for North America, or wire it to ground to have it output European codes.

Make an Arduino TV B-Gone: Wiring it Up

This is an unassembled kit which means that soldering is required - but it’s very easy and a great introduction to soldering in general. The kit’s powered by 2x AA batteries - that aren’t included - and the output comes from 2x narrow beam IR LEDs and 2x wide-beam IR LEDs. The final storage necessary for the sony code is 16 bytes (for the table) + 1 (for the timer val) + 1 (for the compression notice) + 2 (for the timer table pointer) + 7 (for the code itself) = 27 bytes Compare that to the previous version that took 105 bytes!

EU is for Europe, Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, and some countries in Africa and South America The microcontroller is the device that stores all the codes and turns the LEDs on and off according to a program. I then started on the wiring part of the project the first step was to connect a battery to a voltage booster and then set the voltage to 5 V. From there I wired push button to pin two and ground of the Arduino. And then soldered the wires from the voltage booster to vin and ground of the Arduino. The TV-B-Gone for Arduino can use either the EU (European Union) or the NA (North America) database of POWER CODES One of the more popular social activities in China is group dancing in public squares. Often the pastime of many middle-aged and older women, participants are colloquially referred to as “dancing grannies.” While the activity is relatively wholesome, some dancers have begun to draw the ire of their neighbourhoods with their loud music and attempts to dominate the use of public parks and recreational areas.

Will my TV-B-Gone® remote control work on the new types of TV screens, like plasma, LCD, and projectors?

I have a setup with the IR204 and SFH585 in series with a 20 ohm resistor and a BC547 (Vcesat=0.2V), so that leaves a drop of 1.4+1.5+0.2=3.1 Volt. leaves 2 volt, so ideally I would be pushing 100mA through the LED's.Actually, the clear plastic emitter on the front of the TV-B-Gone® universal remote control is not supposed to light up – at least not with visible light. The remote control works by emitting infrared (IR) light, which is invisible to the naked eye. All current models of TV-B-Gone® come with a visible light that blinks inside while it is transmitting. Put the printed circuit board into a vise or board holder, heat up your soldering iron and make sure you're ready to go! Using your soldering iron, heat up a leg of the button and the poke solder into it to make a nice solder joint. The PROGMEM tells the compiler to store it in ROM. This is important because there is only 512 bytes of RAM but 8192 bytes of ROM (flash). By default the compiler thinks we want to store stuff in RAM because we can then change it easily. ROM cannot be modified by the chip itself easily. As their names imply, the North American/Asian model can be used to turn on and off virtually any television in the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and most Asian countries. The European model can be used to turn on and off virtually any model of TV in Europe. It also works well in Australia and New Zealand.

v1.2 - for ATtiny85v, by Mitch Altman & Limor Fried ( https://www.adafruit.com/), w/some code by Kevin Timmerman & Damien Good In this tutorial we’re going to make an Arduino TV B-Gone and its super simple. If you’re not familiar with a TV B-Gone, it’s a device that uses a small micro-controller to send the IR off codes for every TV make and model on the planet. This is a super handy little device to have around as it just turns the TV off. No looking for the right remote. The TV B-Gone is also handy for venues like sports bars and the like. At the end of the night you just hold up the TV B-Gone and turn off every TV in the venue. No hunting for the remotes. And it doesn’t matter which brand. One TV B-Gone and all the TVs turn off. These are also sometimes called TV killers or a TV kill switch. A minute is a long time to wait when you’re waiting for it. So, to shorten the amount of time it will take to turn off most televisions, TV-B-Gone remote controls emit the POWER codes for the most popular televisions first. So, 90% of all televisions will turn off within the first 17 seconds (that’s for the North American & Asian model – for the European model 90% will turn off within the first 12 seconds). There are three main video formats currently in use: NTSC, PAL, and SECAM. If your country uses NTSC video, then the North American/Asian model should work. If your country uses PAL or SECAM video, then the European model should work.
