About this deal

Please note that this extended warranty is currently only available on products sold within the UK, EU or EEA, and is subject to the terms and conditions as detailed on the extended warranty certificate provided. Unfortunately, the REV1 can only accept headphones with the smaller 1/8th inch TRRS port. We would have much-preferred Pioneer DJ to have equipped the REV1 with the larger 1/4inch port as well as we just don’t believe all beginner DJ’s use lower quality headphones. In Conclusion AlphaTheta Corporation announces the release of the DDJ-REV1 in a new series of DJ controllers from its Pioneer DJ brand. This 2-channel unit matches perfectly with the free Serato DJ Lite software, boasting a brand-new battle-style layout that’s easy to use and perfect for playing like a pro DJ. For the first time on a controller of this size, the microphone audio is sent to the laptop. Allowing the microphone to be recorded and streamed without the need for additional hardware!

It’s fun to use, the jogwheels are relatively large, and they feel good. They have no in-jog displays and of course they’re not motorised like the bigger-brother DDJ-REV7‘s are, but they’re an improvement on those of the DDJ-SB3, which this controller is basically a replacement for. Put simply, scratching feels noticeably better than the previous jogs found on DJ controllers at this level. If you’re thinking about getting into battle mixing and scratching, there is no better place to start than the REV1. Overall, the DDJ-REV1 is a more than worthy replacement for the DDJ-SB3, and should prove popular with Serato DJs of all types and levels. Take your performances to the next level with a free trial of Serato DJ Pro (paid permanent upgrade available separately)

Tech spec

With the inclusion of Levers, the DDJ-REV1 allows DJs to use more creative combinations of Serato Effects at the touch of a button.

However, the Gear4music extended warranty scheme provides an enhanced service, and is designed to offer a higher level of protection than many 'free' warranties offered by some retailers and manufacturers. One of the best ways to stand out from other DJs is the way you use effects. As well as the 3-band EQ and trim filter pots, the REV1 has plenty of features to mix creatively. The DDJ-REV1 may sit on the more affordable scale of Pioneer DJ Controllers, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s not full of premium features. Boasting the same sized jogs as the DDJ-SR2 and larger than the DDJ-400, you’ll find plenty of room to try out mixing techniques on its spacious layout. VirtualDJ Pro Full can be used as a stand-alone software in case of emergency, but to truly unleash its power, you might want to connect it to some dedicated hardware. The Pioneer DJ DDJ-REV1 DJ controller offers beginners the perfect introduction to the world of battle-style mixing, without the expense of a set of turntables and mixer capable of scratch battle performance. The DDJ-REV1 is an entry-level device, so it’s all plastic, but the build quality is fine – many pro DJs are happy to use these types of controllers as portable, secondary units, including our own tutor Jazzy Jeff ( see his demo mix on this very device here).

Streaming is easy with the DDJREV1, and vocals or speech can be added with a connected microphone, a first for an entry-level DJ Controller. The audio goes straight to your laptop via Serato DJ Lite and into the stream, meaning there is no need for an external soundcard or mixer. Serato DJ Lite Integration To help you even further, the DDJ-REV1 has 6x Scratch Crossfader Cut patterns, which mean you do not have to use two hands to perform scratch techniques. Simply press the relevant Performance Pad and move the jog wheel and you’ll be scratching like a pro. The bigger the jog wheels, the better for scratching. The jogs on the DDJ-REV1 are the same size as the ones on the DDJ-SR2, a popular controller that’s higher up in the Pioneer DJ range. Not so here. You get two effects engines still, the ability to choose three effects per channel from the unit itself, and to alter the effect cycle value. The only real compromise is a single effects level knob. Demoing the paddle function, a feature that makes controlling effects more creative and fun. If an item can not be repaired, a similar alternative product or cash discount (as defined in this policy) will be offered If though, you’re looking to get into scratching and want to create routines like the best, this is a fantastic place to start. The REV1 is a solid controller with a great layout and solid jog wheels and sets DJs up nicely to continue their progress with scratching! Other controllers to consider:
