About this deal

Where Space Marines represent the mass-produced, genetically-engineered soldiers of the Imperium of Man, the Adeptus Custodes are a force of individual warriors, each a bastion in his own right and a sentinel of unmatched capability and singular purpose created to counter any possible threat -- Human, alien or Daemonic. These warriors have stood in the presence of the immortal Emperor of Mankind since before the time of the Unification Wars. For ten thousand Terran years and more, the Custodians have stood watch over their lord and master, serving as the Emperor's personal heralds and praetorian bodyguard. The way that this is worded seems to imply you get access to all three options with one weapon loadout! If that’s true, this model will be nigh unstoppable in melee and can easily put a hurting on a variety of target types. Assuming the Blade Champion can get into melee he will be a huge force multiplier. There are 51 datasheets, including rules for the magnificent new Szarekh, the Silent Kingmodel, as well as theNecrons’numerous other glorious new models, all their new armyrules, Crusade content and other nuts and bolts. Giving core units heroic intervention completely changes the dynamic of opponents ever trying to charge you. The warlord trait option is also pretty great, halving all the damage that warlord would take. The Dark Angels supplement – the fourth such Space Marine chapter supplement – features custom-made “datasheets, Warlord Traits, Relics, and a Psychic Discipline, as well as a suite of Crusade campaign rules that represent the sombre quest of the Unforgiven”, according to GW. Allarus Custodians saw a few changes such as; Leadership is now 11 (was 9) and the same weapon changes as above where applicable. The hour of action is nigh as the Era Indomitus dawns. With the surge of Chaos activity across the galaxy in the wake of the Great Rift's birth and the threat of eternal damnation more real than ever, the Adeptus Custodes have taken their vow of protection to its logical extreme -- they will see the destruction of those forces who pose a threat to the sanctity of Terra. First amongst these are the dread hordes of Chaos. Battle of Prospero (734.004.M31) - After the Triumph at Ullanor, the Emperor returned to Terra to apply himself to a task of utmost secrecy and importance. The Great Crusade continued under the Warmaster Horus of the Luna Wolves, but dark powers were at work, attempting to pervert the favoured Primarch's rule and sow discord throughout the nascent Imperium. The first outward sign of the coming catastrophe was the Burning of Prospero. Magnus the Red, Primarch of the Thousand Sons, unleashes forbidden sorceries that wreak havoc upon Terra, though most will never know whether this act was one of aggression or an attempt to deliver a desperate warning of Horus' fall. In the end, the truth is immaterial; the Emperor unleashes a censure force under the command of Constantin Valdor and Primarch Leman Russ of the Space Wolves, charged with apprehending Magnus on his homeworld of Prospero and returning him to Terra to answer for his acts. Matters escalate rapidly due to Horus' malevolent intervention and the mission of capture becomes one of wholesale annihilation, Valdor and his Custodians fighting alongside the Space Wolves to overcome the sorcery of Magnus' sons. This mission might take them all across the galaxy, even into the shadows of the Imperium Nihilus beyond the sprawl of the Great Rift to the galactic north, but always their focus would be the sanctity of Terra. In this capacity a number of Shield Companies attached themselves to Guilliman's Indomitus Crusade, reprising the role of the Emperor's emissaries in bearing Primaris Space Marines reinforcements and the Primaris-creation technology to the beleaguered Space Marine Chapters, and ensuring they understood that this was a gift from the Master of Mankind himself. It was not to be squandered or refused. If you have a big Custodes unit, you might eschew any of these choices for either Valerian or a Blade Champion if you want to be durable or fast respectively. Valerian is a strong fighter in his own right and provides -1AP in the Fight Phase, creating an extra-tank setup for some games, while the Blade Champion is the nastiest personal killer other than Trajann, and gives you free Heroics and once-per-game Advance Charge, which – yes please. My suspicion is that if you go for a full-sized ten model Custodian unit, the Blade Champion is the play simply because getting them into touch a turn early is so good, and Heroic Intervention is one of the key things you want free stratagems for anyway! I could see supplementing this with Wardens or Custodians with Valerian or a Shield Captain out of a Land Raider, and suspect that three Wardens with a Character is a very viable unit too. Additionally, the NERF to Shields and some characters like Trajann getting their invuln removed means that if weapons weren’t buffed, Custodes wouldn’t really have a chance. We’ll have to wait and see which weapons are the best going forward, but the 4+ INV and +1 from shields sorta makes it close to a 3+ still if you have vexilla support giving you cover. Adeptus Custodes 9th Edition 40k Points Changes Also making T’au enthusiasts happyis this book’s success in making a far wider variety of potential T’au battle-plans and list-building options competitively viable after a long period wheremost lists were dominated by triple Riptidebattlesuits, Coldstar T’au Commanders, hordes of Drones, and not much else. Old favorites like Crisis Battlesuit squads, Devilfish transports, and Hammerhead gunships have been rejuvenated, and T’au-heads are loving it. For a more selfish option, Auric Aquilas looks to upgrade a biker, giving them re-rollable charges, or +1 to charge if they have two sources of re-rollable charges, and it can double move by “boosting” but then gives up its shooting and charging for that turn. All in all, a great mobility boost to already extremely mobile models. Updates in general for any game are just good business. That being said it also seems like in 2022 GW will have their hands full trying to monetize these updates while getting hobbyists to adopt their new DLC style pay-to-play path to market.

In the last days before the gathering storm broke and the Great Rift tore the void in two, a bright light of hope was kindled within the galactic empire of Ultramar. Through great sacrifice and unnatural artifice, Roboute Guilliman, primarch of the Ultramarines, was restored from the brink of death. His coming would herald great changes for the Imperium. When the Traitor Legions fell upon the Imperial Palace at the culmination of the Horus Heresy, Roboute Guilliman and his Ultramarines were too far away to fight in their father's defence. Perhaps, had it been otherwise, the fate of the galaxy would have been very different. Now let’s recap the Shadowthrone units to give you a better overview of some of the factions updated model performance. Shadowthrone Unit DatasheetsThe Emperor battles the Warmaster Horus aboard his flagship, while the Legio Custodes attempt to come to the aid of their liege. Battlezone codices were rules supplements that dealt with a specialised combat environment, instead of an army. There was only ever one produced. However, material in Codex: Catachans provides rules for jungle warfare. The concept of a battlezone codex was replaced by Games Workshop's Expansions. Both the 9th edition Grey Knightsand Thousand Sonscodexesreleased alongsidea double-army battlebox, Hexfire: Supernatural Warfare in the 41st Millennium. The box of 29 minis contained a small forcefor each faction, and two brand new character miniatures to lead them: Castellan Crowe for the daemon-hunting Grey Knights, and the new Infernal Master character model for the Egyptian-loving warp wizards. Prior to releasing the new T’au Empire book, GW published a string ofreveals outlining much improved subfaction rules for the six different T’au Septs, as well as totally reworked rules for the Mont’ka and Kauyon Tactical Philosophies; Crusade narrative rules including options for something called ‘diplomacy’; and an array of terrifyingly up-powered ranged weaponry(with accompanying Relics) that, by all accounts, are Making T’au Shooting Scary Again. There are those who believe that the Adeptus Custodes stand immobilised by ritual and rote, but they are sorely mistaken. Only the Custodian Guard know what occurs behind the Sanctum Imperialis' colossal doors, and the lengths to which they have gone to keep their vigil. Their sacred task has by no means led to inactivity.
