This book was since a long time in my wishlist, and I'm glad that I finally decided to read it. I would recommend it to anyone who loves cats, that needs something funny and easy to read, and also to people who want to know the basics about Buddhism. Though the book is simple and easy to read, it explains however important principles that could teach us to live a less stressful life, to know ourselves better to become also a better and more patient person. I am always surprised how many people make this observation. Why should His Holiness not have a cat? Unlike puppies, kittens know to only meow when necessary. They don’t lie (and will tell you your haircut is ridiculous) and won’t partake in idle meowing. When a cat speaks, she has something to say (“I know you just feed me, but the bowl is half empty”) and says it with simple clarity. Oh, my! Ovo je jedna lijepa, topla, pozitivna priča i sjela mi je baš ko kec na desetku. Glavni lik je mačka (Rinpoche, Snježni Lav, MNJS... dali su joj razna imena) koja nam u prvom licu priča o svom životu. Udomljuje ju nitko drugi nego Dalaj lama i ona u njegovoj rezidenciji doživljava razne zgode i nezgode većinom prouzročene njenim mačjim karakterom. Kroz njene dogodovštine provlači se i priča o budizmu i njegovim načelima, ali onako lagano, taman koliko treba da bi bilo zanimljivo. Maca i sama razmišlja o značenju tih načela i pokušava sebe učiniti boljom s obzirom na njih (ne biti proždrljiva, ne samosažaljevati se nego krenuti u promjenu, naučiti se strpljenju...). Baš mi je zgodno kako maca svoje dogodovštine poistovjećuje sa savjetima koje čuje te se na osnovu njih trudi promijeniti. First I had a mixed feelings as to what was the target audience of this book - was it balanced for teens, grannies or crazy cat ladies like me, since the cat's POV is a bit... specific, let's say. And after finishing the book I am still not sure, but I don't give a f***. I really liked the heart warming tone of it with some major principles of one of the greatest religions explained in a simple and encouraging way. There's some humour in it and a lot of wisdom too.

We cats are the most habitual of creatures. Preferred sun loungers, meal times, hidey holes, and scratching posts are among the considerations in which we take daily satisfaction. The whole story is written from the cat's perspective and I can say and if you're a cat person then there's absolutely no way you won't fall in love with this book. It's both an immensely enjoyable read and absolutely hilarious and it won't fail to be thought provoking on topics of how you live your life - there are just too many quotes and moments in this book for me to write down that made me really laugh! "It was his habit to ask visitors if they minded having me in the room. Some humans, it seems, are afflicted with an allergy that must be as devastating as a violent reaction to, say, Belgian truffles, Italian coffee, or Mozart."

Cats (unlike most dogs) will only eat when they are hungry and take a nap when they are tired. They are not out to please you, worry about their own ego, or dwell on things, but they do what needs to be done just like an enlightened person.
