About this deal

The video has an undisturbed and visibly grainy texture that occasionally takes on more emphasis but, I never found it bothersome. Other than a hand full of shots where innate softening creeps in this video rendering looks solid. This new Paramount Pictures release comes with both 4K UHD + Blu-ray discs included. SPECIAL FEATURES Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark is a must-own for home theater buffs. This movie is true to the action drama and the 4k HDR Atmos presentation makes it even more like reliving the experience in theaters. However, even without the HDR and Atmos qualities, the 2160p resolution provides a great viewing experience and 7-channel audio slightly more immersive. The details in the antiquities Indy comes across, the scenery in Cairo, and, the overall quality of the picture are really worth the 4k upgrade. Scores After leaving his mark in the world of horror with Jawsand elevating B-quality sci-fi to that of awarding-winning drama while pushing visual effects wizardry in Close Encounters, Steven Spielberg forged ahead to breathe new life in yet another movie genre with Raiders of the Lost Ark. Partnering with writer and producer George Lucas, the legendary filmmaker cooked up the perfect recipe for the action-adventure film. The first feature in the Indiana Jones saga is also where Spielberg began really demonstrating his unique style and distinct spirited tone that eventually grew into its own definition — the Spielbergian. From the opening moments of the Paramount logo seamlessly fading into a wide establishing shot of a South American mountain peak, we become witness to the imaginative creativity of a true virtuoso, a genuine filmmaker in complete control of the camera.

Harrison Ford stars as the iconic Indiana Jones whilst the film also features Karen Allen, Paul Freeman, Ronald Lacey, John Rhys-Davies and Denholm Elliott. Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)

Paramount has released Director Steven Spielberg's seminal 1981 Adventure film 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' to the UHD format. New specifications include 2160p/Dolby Vision video and Dolby Atmos audio. No new supplements are included. At the time of publication, this release is only available in Sallah (John Rhys-Davies), in a race against time to keep the power of God out of the hands of the Devil's agents. The English Dolby TrueHD 7.1 channel audio (that converts to Dolby Atmos systems when available) streamed at around 3.5Mbps. The deep horns from John Williams’ music composition sound exceptionally well on a subwoofer. Get ready for edge-of-your-seat thrills in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Indy (Harrison Ford) and his feisty ex-flame Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) dodge booby-traps, fight Nazis and stare down snakes in their incredible worldwide quest for the mystical Ark of the Covenant. Experience one exciting cliffhanger after another when you discover adventure with the one and only Indiana Jones.

So many elements came together seamlessly to make this a landmark film. The direction is deft and efficient, with all of Spielberg’s trademark style and flair in evidence, but with little in the way of overindulgence. The pacing is brisk, but not too brisk—not modern, but definitely a new gear for action-adventure films of the period. The cast is perfect across the board, with Harrison Ford coming fully into his own here. He carries the story with an effortlessness that belays how hard he’s actually working. The stunt work is superb, the set pieces are satisfying, the costuming and period production design are pitch perfect. The script is wry, funny, and honest by turns, and always engaging. There are certainly some cultural depictions of their time, but then that’s how creative works are. Still the film has aged beautifully. And John Williams’ iconic score—arguably his best work apart from Star Wars—lends everything a certain kind of magic, gravitas, and energy... and even a bit of whimsy. This is an unquestionably great film, and one that’s withstood the test of time.opening idol snatching sequence all the way to the climactic scenes with the opened Ark. The film feels absolutely brand new at this resolution, and Audio: English: Dolby Atmos (Dolby TrueHD 7.1 Core), Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese DD 5.1, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Russian DD 2.0 outdoor marketplace scenes around the 38-minute mark. The newfound life and vitality almost defy description. Sharpness amplifications abound, Where HDR seems to add to this film is in the dark shadow and highlight areas where the bit depth reveals more than what has been seen before on Blu-ray and certainly in 720p/1080i on TV broadcasts. Take for instance the scene in the tomb at about 1:04:00 where Indy finds the ark but is surrounded by snakes. There are details in the shadows that, like the ark, haven’t been uncovered for years. A movie that no doubt inspired many fans to go into the study of archaeology and antiquities or pursue an adventurous career that requires a .45 caliber Smith and Wesson and bullwhip, Raiders of the Lost Ark (now titled Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark) was a box office smash and 5x Oscar-winner. The film projected Harrison Ford into stardom (after being hailed for his supporting role in two Star Wars films) and continued the rise of Steven Spielberg as one of the eminent Hollywood producers and directors.

bodied and fluid, particularly considering John Williams score which is almost always robustly defined and engaging across a balanced berth through Paramount remastered Raider of the Lost Ark from the original film elements. Its presentation in Ultra HD is derived from the 4K Digital Intermediate. Indy needs to go in, foil their plans with the help of ex-girlfriend Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) and make sure the Ark is recovered so that it can no longer pose a threat. Easy? Right? hub. The inner print is a two-panel spread that depicts Sallah and Indiana Jones hoisting up the golden ark, which is seen prominently, center, against a I’ve also posted my thoughts on Steven Spielberg’s new West Side Story on 4K Ultra HD from 20th Century Studios. The story introduced the world to Harrison Ford's inimitable Indiana Jones, a college professor who moonlights as a tomb-raiding archaeologist, and who crosses paths with some Nazis in a race to find the potentially all-powerful Ark of the Covenant. Initially coming from just a sketch of scenes by Lucas and Spielberg, who had no script to tie them together, the end result is indeed a succession of memorable set pieces - not least the fabulous opening sequence, which has to be one of the greatest scenes of all time. But it's also a whole lot more. Be careful with HDR though. As we learned with this title and others the colors can be thrown off immensely. If the colors just seem ridiculous like the TV shots below there is probably something wrong with your setup. HDR should enhance color and contrast to be more realistic, not unrealistic.
