There's only one Con, the curly cable, if you sit stationary in your mix position you're fine. But if you move a lot to access different gear, any head movement more than 30cm, will reposition the cable & it's weight strain. Do that all day, & you'll get tired & annoyed by that cable. So sit still haha and try to have the cable rest on something like your desktop/table when mixing/mastering. Letting the cable hang full weight on the headphone will cause fatigue during long sessions, but is inevitable in the vocal booth where one usually stands upright. As goes the headphones, I rate them five stars in every respect taking into account their budget price. I also own Amiron Homes, which certainly sound a little better but which don’t quite fit my head as perfectly as the 770s, and I have a pair of 880 250ohms which I think have a significantly different sound signature from the 770s (very precise but understated bass and a gauzy, delicate treble). I am not a fan of closed headphones per se, but sometimes it is the only politic choice when wearing them around the house, and the 770s are the only such headphones I have so far found that I really enjoy the sound of and find comfortable when wearing for long periods. I find that the 80 ohm 770s work well on any device and yet they still benefit from dedicated amplification (which in my case comes in the form of a couple of Little Dot Mk 2 head amps in a couple of different systems. For my 250 ohm headphones these Little Dots are essential). I like the 770s so much that this is my second pair. Even though I think my Amirons and 880s are better headphones, sonically speaking, I find that I now use the 770s most of all and I would hate to be without them. I find them particularly satisfying when listening to jazz, the Amirons more so with classical. In terms of sheer value for money the 770s make the Amirons look like more of an indulgence that an unequivocal game-changing improvement! And, I don’t feel I have to be so precious in the way I treat these headphones (which is ironic really, given the fact that the Amirons are distinctly more solidly built). On top of that the comfort and the overall mechanical design was increased and a removable XLR cable was added that can be swapped out depending on what you’re doing. +Which ist the best headphone for mixing and mastering? These headphones are for monitoring and you realise straight away why they have been in production for the last several decades. The sound is crystal clear, soundstage is extremely wide and imaging is just terrific. The PRO range contains classic world-renowned studio headphones that are great for producing, mixing, mastering and other studio tasks. But you really do need to use a high-quality amplifier or audio interface to get the most out of these headphones.

In conclusion, I love this headphone for everything. Mixing/mastering [closed design isolates well, won't hear street noises & children playing, I can always focus on my mix/master]; monitoring instruments, sound design, critical listening, watching movies, and playing games. Also great for enjoying ASMR, or voice/video-calls, just make sure you have an good headphone preamp to drive the 250ohm to get enough gain/volume. The Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO have a very neutral sound profile, which results in an accurate reproduction of vocals and lead instruments. They also benefit from a well-balanced, though not over-emphasized, bass response. Their sound is also suitable for a variety of audio content. However, like many headphones this manufacturer offers, the sibilants are a bit bright and piercing. Make and comfort: These headphones are a mixture of steel and plastic and each part is replaceable. But why you will need replacing is beyond me since they have been made so sturdily. The ear pads are made of velour and covers my ears completely, this not only guarantees amazing comfort but also allows the sound to gently bounce off my outer ear into my ear drum which creates a sensation of high definition surround sound. Clamping force is just enough for the DT 770 Studios to feel secure, without it feeling like your brain is being squeezed out of your skull. This is likely in large part thanks to the incredibly thicc padding on each earpad. We're not totally sure what the filling on these earpads is made of, but the super soft velour covering is incredibly comfortable, if a little hot during this brutal New York City summer.

How do you connect the Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO?

The comfort deserves more than 5 stars - those bunny rabbits on your ears are just amazing. Just as a testament to how amazed and awesome these headphones are, I have received my brand new guitar in the same shipment as these headphones. After putting on these headphones I simply sat there and listened to music, that is how amazing they are. SOUND: Overall very clear sound with wide stereo image. I find them especially good for rough mixes because of the wide stereo image. Bass is clear and tight, no mud and mush in the low end, which is exceptional at this price level. Mids are well defined and clear. Highs are very nice, but kind of soft, so you will want to take that into consideration while mixing. Most other headphones and monitors will sound brighter and crispier. I personally prefer the tamed highs on DT770, since they allow me to listen for longer, without as much ear fatigue. This is totally a personal preference though. Just so there is no confusion: you can hear all the highs properly (at least in my hearing range, which is up to 17.5 kHz). Comfort is also great, many hours, minimum fatigue. Might have to get used to the weight, clamp pressure, and curly cable weight & handling. But in a weeks time it will be second nature. My longest session wearing it was 22 hours. I have used it for nearly 3 years now, almost every day 7 days a week, 3 to 12hrs a day.

The foam pads/cushions are still good, good isolation even after all this time. Isolation for vocal booth/livestreaming/podcast is also great on these. I think about 80% of youtube/twitch streamers use the DT-770. It's very popular. Although it is a V-shape sounding headphone, it is quite aggressive in presenting the details. Everything sounded quite the way it should, not neutral, but still very good.

A price to performance champion

In general, our DT 770 PRO, DT 700 PRO X and DT 990 PRO, DT 900 PRO X studio headphones are suitable for streamers and can be used for gaming accordingly. To find the perfect headset for your own use, we recommend our online gaming guide. +What is the difference between PRO and PRO X?

For closure, I run these headphones through Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 3rd Gen audio interface and you achieve the "medium-to-high" volume at 60% of the knob-turn. At 100%, you can listen to it, but that's just blazing and a bit too loud. However, for anyone that's looking for huge, thumping bass, you're going to want to look elsewhere. Because these headphones are primarily designed for Studio (or 'Pro') work, the sound profile is incredibly balanced. Don't take this to mean that the bass is weak per se, but it's definitely not going to rattle your ears off or anything. I use the RME Babyface Pro Fs, more than enough gain. But on my samsung phone max volume is about 70%-80% of what I would prefer as ideal. It's okay, not bad, but I'd recommend an headphone preamp if you want to drive the 250ohm version just from phone. Thanks to the STELLAR.45 driver, The PRO X range are going to sound excellent in the Studio, plugged into an interface or amplifier – but you can also use them on the go if you plug them into a laptop or a smartphone as they are going to turn up very loud. Regardless, I went with 80 ohm ones and these headphones are kind of a benchmark for every day use headphones for me. Now, I am no audiophile, but I can tell a good pair of cans from bad ones - and these ones do justice on all fronts.
