I don't always agree the main characters decisions, or the way she acts, but the important part is that I understand why she does everything and that she feels like a real life flawed person. Of course, my mind filled with a repertoire of suspense thrillers immediately went to "OMG, he tried to kill her", but no, Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac is not that kind of book.

Our main character, Naomi, lost four years of her life and now needs to rediscover who she is (and why). The story takes place in contemporary Tarrytown, New York, and follows protagonist Naomi Porter after a slip on the stairs leaves her with no memory of the last four years of her life. She hears an unfamiliar voice claiming to be her boyfriend and opens her eyes to see him sitting beside her on the way to the hospital. Honest and complex characterization grounds a thoughtful, suspenseful examination of memory and identity.Also, I'm not gay but Mirai is cute, the actor himself is not very cute but in this role, very cute. The most important factor to enjoy this film, of course, is that it's cute and full of the colours of life. Like a good book, it has some sad parts, but you can also have a good laugh and overall it’s a positive book. Last, and most personal and picky: I realize that lots of teenagers use profanity and lots of teenagers have sex, but, ick. After hitting her head on the steps after school, she wakes up in an ambulance, more aware of the pain than what actually happened.

Zevin is a master at creating gorgeously painful tension that builds and builds until I THOUGHT I MIGHT DIE IF THEY DID NOT FREAKING KISS ALREADY.However, regardless of that fact that she has suffered from some emotional and physical trauma, I didn’t think it was a good enough excuse for treating her friends badly. I love that he isn't perfect, and I love that Zevin was at least not afraid to make his character just the slightest bit dangerous. Ok so I know I just gushed on and on about how much I love Will but… um… if I were Naomi, I would totally go for James Larkin, the super hot and mysterious boy who discovers her immediately after her amnesia-inducing fall.
