About this deal

Her skin routine, as I reread it recently, is very similar to what Hirons recommends – except that she recommends acids a few times a week instead of everyday. I am not new to comprehensive skincare, and I found a lot in the book to help me, a lot I didn't know.

I particularly enjoyed the section on skin problems - having acne, eczema and keratosis pilaris and seeing these conditions completely normalised and not spoken about in a medical style was really comforting for me, and I’m sure other readers will have taken the same comfort in relating to other skin conditions listed in the book. The last chapter also briefly explain the most common ingredients, and how to read an ingredients label to avoid falling in marketing slogans. If you're new to skincare and find the vast array of products overwhelming, and they certainly can be, or if you just want to know more, try this book.

With over 100 million views of her blog and over 13 million views of her YouTube videos, she cuts out the jargon, tells you want you do and don’t need, and is finally going to get the nation off face wipes for good! However, I did still learn things and it’s such a good book to have to be able to grab for any reference and if any one ever asks me for skin related advice! Caroline states that any good formulation is ready to go as soon as you squeeze a drop onto your face. This was a really great base of information for me, especially since I was feeing incredibly confused and overwhelmed by the amount of information and strong opinions from brands, professionals, and general people. The book is now out of print, but most of its content is available online – this includes their yearly Beauty Bible awards, which are chosen by their volunteer testers.Don’t be tempted by a moisturiser with SPF in it; you’re being lured into a false sense of security. My near perfect treat it as bad as you want skin is rebelling and talking to me and showing me on some days that it’s clearly not happy. I am a skincare newbie and I know I will have to read this through a few times to really understand it all. päris pikalt (koroona-lockdowni ajal tootsid kõik mu lemmikud sotsiaalmeediasse nii palju sisu, et ma sain aru, et lõputult ei jaksa ma kuulata isegi parimaid neist). It’s a book that covers all manner of beauty concerns: nails, waxing, teenage beauty, chemotherapy beauty, beauty and the careerwoman, and the etiquette of talking (or not) to your hairdresser… you name it, she’s got it.

About the Author: Caroline is a fully trained advanced aesthetician with over 35 years experience in retail, including 23 in skincare, consulting and advising for retailers and brands in the skincare industry. Sometimes, I do forget to cleanse at night, which is something I need to get into the habit of doing. it also provides the reader with the tools to understand inki lists and make informed decisions on skincare products they may not be addresses in the book. When explaining why she doesn’t like electronic cleansing brushes “It does not need a sandblaster to clean your face. I also took photos of her essay against the rampant greenwashing in the “natural”/“clean” beauty movement, which I plan on forwarding to all of my friends who ask me for “clean” or “toxin-free” skincare recommendations. With everything from Caroline’s signature cheat sheets, simple tips and tricks to glow (inside and out! tootekategooriate kaupa see, mis peaks inimesel (vanusegruppide kaupa) olemas olema ja mida kindlasti ei peaks kasutama (Caroline vihkab kirglikult niiskeid salvrätte näiteks). I have used it twice now, hoping for a different effect, but I think I’m just going to have to bin it and stick to the Cetaphil. So step in Caroline Hirons she is an established industry expert and facialist and she seems to know what works and doesn’t. The author covers skin types, skin problems, skincare routines, where we should be spending the bulk of our skincare budget, skincare myths, and so much more.

Only giving this 3 stars though as there is SCARCE info on pregnancy/ menopausal skin concerns /product recommendations which I know I would have definitely appreciated when preggo. Skincare is the go-to book for people of all ages and skin types who want to feel and look fantastic. Evening Standard Online ‘Skin queen of the internet’ Image Magazine Ireland ‘Her opinion is like gold-dust for anyone marketing a new product, as she is so trusted in the industry. If you are consistently ‘cleansing’ with wipes (aka moving the dirt around your face) and then applying a really expensive serum or moisturiser on top, you are wasting your money.Fully revised and updated, this book is packed with all the latest skincare recommendations, brandsand techniques… and no nonsense. I even love the ‘how to pop a spot’ section because let’s face it, we all do it but love that we can now do it with a plan! sama sisu saaks edasi anda ka nii, et ta majapidamises vähem ruumi võtaks (kasvõi fotode ja leheküljesuuruselt trükitud ühelauseliste tsitaatide arvelt), aga selgelt on ühtaegu tegu ka CH fännitootega, mille ostsin rõõmuga kõvakaanelisena ja panen oma riiulisse aukohale teiste tähtsate teadjanaiste kõrvale. I loved this, it exceeded my expectations and is a must have for anyone that loves and is interested in skincare (and the science behind it) as much as me!
