I’ve never had much trouble with bleed through, but there are some pages where you can see a dark shadow of what’s on the page behind. The NIV Illustrating Bible is designed to take you deeper into the Word than you’ve ever gone before.The life of Jesus laid out before me, looking to Jesus life and ministry has really impacted this past year. Several of the pages are either double punched or have been pulled, like you’d start to pull a page out of a spiral bound notebook, in effect. You’ll be so impressed with this high quality premium Bible, it will quickly become your new favorite journaling Bible with its large square 9. The margins have no lines which I prefer but you could easily add some journaling lines if that works better for you.

Usually I don’t keep boxes, but I might keep this one to keep my bible safe from curious little three year old hands. The most important feature is the thick journal paper prevents bleed through preserving your beautiful journal entries on every page whether you choose highlighting, basic art coloring with crayons, chalk, colored pencils, gel pens, markers or wet media with gesso, painting, stamping, watercolors or scrapbooking style with stickers, washi tape, or whatever journaling tools and techniques you fancy. I literally have nothing negative to say about this Bible—it’s gorgeous, great quality, HUGE (which isn’t good for bringing to church, but great for journaling at home), the CSB version and contains the Word of God!

DaySpring says the Illustrating Bible’s pages are 75% thicker than other bible’s pages to help with bleed through. These pages are more porous so they grab onto the pigment which means it can be more difficult to get a seamless blend and near impossible to lift color if you make a mistake. Perhaps this is tiny damage in view of what is likely to happen when I start painting in it, because it it unwieldy and the pages don’t turn easily. Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places.Distress Ink – no bleed when stamping but some techniques will bleed, especially when water is added. I pray that the resources here help you begin your bible journal ministry for self-discovery, evangelism, and community. This style of Bible is my absolute favorite for Bible art journaling and I can’t wait to share with you how this version is the same and how it’s different from the rose gold version released last year. The large margins give you space to use some of your larger products and gives you room to get creative and journal.
