Patterson has been absolutely dominating the thriller and crime fiction genre for nearly 30 years and has an incredible catalogue of works to his name, including his best-selling Alex Cross books. Death of the Black Widow features an intriguing and unique cast, each of whom brings something fun and compelling to the story. Given their respective CV's I'm guessing Patterson did the police procedural parts and Barker handled the supernatural elements.

The creator of Alex Cross, he has produced more enduring fictional heroes than any other novelist alive.

No one gets this big without amazing natural storytelling talent - which is what Jim has, in spades. A much-used word, karma is loosely understood as a system of checks and balances in our lives, of good actions and bad deeds, of good thoughts and bad intentions. A secret government agency is attempting to find this mysterious woman, and soon they and Walter begin to uncover a disturbing trend of murders going back years.

This new genre combines well with the books existing thriller/crime fiction framework to create an intense and exhilarating read that is extremely easy to get into and very, very hard to put down. Natasha and Clint didn't realize this is what needed to happen to get the Soul Stone, but they figured it out fairly quickly, not long after they saw Red Skull (who, now, is the guardian of the Soul Stone). Yes there is a (big) touch of the supernatural in this book, but for some reason the authors make it seem not that farfetched.It did not seem like a James Patterson thriller at all but more like an evil fantasy story that takes too long to conclude.
