Description

The natural finish provided with the application of Danish Oil provides water resistance to all woods (including bare wood), helping to reduce staining and make the wood easier to clean and maintain. Varnished, shellaced, lacquered or heavily stained wood will usually present a surface barrier to absorption of the Danish Oil, and will need to be removed as necessary with a proprietary paint stripper. With under-mount sinks, an additional coat of oil will be required to the edges and around the sink area. I've read a lot of conflicting instructions on proper application and am looking for a general consensus on wood prep, application method, amount of coats, cure times, etc. This guide looks at which finish is the easiest to apply, which provides the best look, and which provides the best protection.

Our premium cleaning and restoration products meet the highest professional demands yet are packaged and designed to remain easy-to-use for everyone. The reason that it has 'stood the test of time' is that until a few years ago there wasn't anything else like epoxy finishes or varnish so people used a delicate finish which was easy to apply rather than nothing at all. Compliant with Materials and Articles in Contact with Food Regulations, Danish Oil is also ideal for the treatment of worktops and utensils used in the kitchen and dining areas, where contact with food, spills and exposure to water and other liquids are a frequent hazard to unprotected surfaces. I'm getting close to the finishing stage, and decided on 2 possibilities to try: Clear poly, and Danish oil. We are based in the UK, and when we began manufacturing our own oil products for wood we decided to find out for ourselves what was available here as as Danish Oil.

To confuse my little mind even more I asked Liberon which of their products they'd recommend using on BLO to shine it up.

The first coat will quickly soak into the wood, leave it for a few minutes and then wipe away any excess. I can't remember where I read all this I am afraid or the underlying logic but it seems to work for me. Danish oil will help make your oak project look beautiful and keep it from getting quickly worn down. Two more coats should be applied after the first, leaving four to six hours between each coat to ensure the previous application has completely dried before applying the next. Many pros err on the side of caution and wait a month or more, when possible, after the last coat has gone on. The foam brush will help absorb the liquid, ensuring you can apply the oil evenly and in generous amounts. When you apply Danish oil, it soaks into the bare wood and, when it’s dry, gives you a hard and durable finish that has a lovely soft sheen. Allow to penetrate for 10-20 minutes before wiping off any excess with a lint-free cloth in the direction of the grain.
