About this deal

This is a work of fiction, as it states clearly, but many of the characters included in this story were real people whose stories are shared through the creativity of Heather Morris. This was one of my most highly anticipated novels of the year as I loved Books 1 and 2 in this series. Lewis Stone can't face the work Christmas party, but he's one of the bosses, he has to put in an appearance. Heather Morris continues her historical fiction (based on real people) writing with this compelling story of the three Meller sisters.

I read Tattooist and Cilka when they both came out but I hadn’t heard of this one, so thanks for bringing it to my attention. The stories of millions ended during the war and the concentration camps and it is inspiring to read that there are some survivors who were able to go on and have families and fulfilling lives after their near death experiences. It’s a bittersweet moment when the three of them are reunited; it really left me conflicted, I was pleased they were together, able to hug each other again but at the same time was devastated that it was in hell, with them facing death every, single day.I felt so invested in the lives of the three sisters, and as a reader you become so connected to them, especially as this book spans more than just their lives in Auschwitz, looking at both before and after, meaning they become the three-dimensional people they deserve to be.

In her blurb on the back of the book, Morris reveals that all the sisters survived, so the tension is in the “how,” not “if. Rich in vivid detail, and beautifully told, Three Sisters will break your heart, but leave you amazed and uplifted by the courage and fierce love of three sisters, whose promise to each other kept them alive. I slowed the reading of it down a lot so I could enjoy it for longer or I’d had finished this in just 2 days. It is a promise that they will never forget, and perhaps be the thing that both unites them, and ultimately saves them. It was ten years since the sisters made that promise to their father, but not one of them forgot about it.After the death of their father Menachem in 1929 Slovakia, sisters Cibi, Magda, and Livi Meller vow to always stay together.

Recommend to fans of Historical Fiction, WWII survival and anyone who wants to learn about these amazing sisters.

I couldn’t take their conversations seriously as their immaturity and babyish behaviour and dialogue took away from the harrowing storyline, the true grit and the heaviness of the times.
