Having matured for no less than eight years, BACARDÍ RESERVA OCHO unveils enchanting notes of stone fruits and spices. Obviously I’m not a fan of the sugar, but it isn’t that noticeable as it would be in other “latin” rums. A refined and crafted sipping rum for the mature palate, this has a rich and complex flavour to be savoured. The flavour profile of both rums is consistent, it’s just that the newer bottling took it a few notches higher – it could also be a side-effect of the 8 Year Old sitting in the bottle for longer, but I doubt. Bacardi 8 Year Old Rum is aged to perfection, beautifully capturing rare flavours from the Bacardi family’s treasured recipe.A blend of Bacardis finest Caribbean rums, is aged for at least eight years in carefully selected small, mature oak casks before being masterfully blended to develop the rounded complexity. It is not quite as “Latin” in terms of oakiness and in particularly smokiness as the Bacardi Reserva. Bacardi Reserva Superior 8 Year Old Rum 70cl is a premium, golden, sipping rum, made from a blend of Bacardi Rums aged between 8 and 16 years.
