About this deal

It seems absurd to me that the only thing close to an Oled is just the samsung g9 neo, the thing cost an arm and a leg. Display Information about the main characteristics of the display - panel, backlight, resolution, refresh rate, etc. If you're looking for something less expensive, you do have alternatives, and the LG 34GN850 remains a premium option.

Unfortunately, using the sRGB mode locks many settings, like Adaptive Sync and Response Time, so if you want to use those settings, you need to use another, less accurate picture mode. Only the Odyssey G7 and G9 have been able to work out the slow dark pixel transitions present in VA panels. Options like the Nixeus NX-EDG34S which have in recent times pushed up to 144Hz with VA panels, are still mid-range contenders and don't really get close to what the 34GN850 is offering. Pixel responsiveness is the best aspect of the LG 34GN850 thanks to its refresh rate and a particularly effective overdrive feature.

The 34GK950F was no slouch in terms of response times, but this new ultrawide panel should elevate the 34GN850 to the next level. It isn’t the largest monitor by today’s standards, but you do have to mind the space required for the LG 34GN850. The LG 34GN850 features a matte display surface, reducing glare and reflections for a comfortable viewing experience. The monitor has a matte display surface, reducing glare and reflections for comfortable viewing even in well-lit environments.

Gaming-wise, even though the Gigabyte has a slightly higher refresh rate, the LG has a faster response time at max refresh rate to deliver a clearer image in fast-moving scenes. The backlight is the clear limitation in this regard since many of the HDR 1000 IPS monitors we tested showed brilliant contrast ratios. It delivers good picture quality thanks to its high resolution, and its large, curved screen is great for immersion. connector to unlock the 144Hz refresh rate and 10-bit color depth, as using one of the two HDMI inputs will limit your maximum refresh rate to 85Hz with 10-bit colors. However, my 34GN850 had a lot less IPS glow in the bottom left and right corners than my 34GK950F, this monitor (at least our unit) was much better than average for IPS glow and while it's not perfect - very few IPS monitors are - I don't think you'll notice this issue in most conditions. The display section retains its simple black plastic finish, moderate bezel size and circular rear design with red highlights. The static contrast shows the ratio between the brightest and the darkest color, which the display can reproduce simultaneously, for example, within one and the same frame/scene. If someone comes across a different type of panel or if their LG 34GN850-B doesn't correspond to our review, let us know and we'll update the review. Interestingly, you need to create a custom resolution to send a fixed 120Hz signal, but 120Hz works fine with VRR enabled if you set a higher refresh rate and the frame rate of your source drops to 120. It’s not every day that you see a monitor land these figures for color performance paired with gaming prestige.

Its superb response time and high refresh rate result in clear images with very little motion blur, and it comes with native FreeSync support and G-SYNC compatibility.
