About this deal

If you plan on passing over this list and going straight to Ugluk’s Scouts, you can probably forego the Quest of the Ringbearer book, too – although there is a lot of other fun stuff in there. If we were to optimise this list you'd want to hit your bow limit - but that's not something we've done here as we're limited by the number of bows in the battlehost. As with Saruman and Gandalf (spoiler alert), the Witch-King gets a subset of his original spells (only Transfix, Compel, and Black Dart - all with their normal 12" range and cast on a 3+, 4+, and 5+ respectively, per the usual). You can use this force for the Riders of Eomer Legendary Legion from the War of Rohan book, and some more Riders of Rohan and a command pack will always be a solid choice in building a Rohan collection. All the battlehosts are from the Lord of the Rings, so profiles are all in the Armies of the Lord of the Rings book.

Unlike all the other boxes, these guys have no cavalry, but their greater weight of numbers means they're unlikely to have 1 Uruk charged by 1 cavalry model very often. However, it doesn’t require all that many purchases, so it’s an easy recommendation to follow on from the Battlehost. But don’t get me wrong – a lot of the Dunland models are a great boon to a ‘vanilla’ Isengard list and are worth picking up even if you have no intention of running the Legion. What constitutes a bulky item shall be at Battlefield Hobbies Limited’s discretion, hazardous items are those deemed so by the Royal Mail. When the new Battlehost boxes were announced back in August, Centaur wrote an article that evaluated which would win if they were pitted together.

I get that there's a Warg Rider pack in there, so we NEED to have Orcs, but I think the better option might be to drop the Warg Riders (gasp) and the Witch-King (GASP! Due to distribution restrictions we are only able to ship this product to the United States, Puerto Rico and U. There is nothing wrong with playing a 250 point game to get a feel for the system and then decide you need a monster, or another couple of characters, or some elite infantry. There’s also a strong argument to take a Dunland Chieftain over one of the named heroes too, just to have access to Heroic March - happily, these come included with the Warriors box, which is one of the few nice things that can be said about it. I will say it again though, Lord of the Rings is a very good game, and GW are making it easier to get into it. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too. throw in the new Gothmog kit (or the old one, I don't care) and give them 24 Morannon Orcs (to join the 24 Orc Warriors). It is definitely a good idea to treat them as optional sidegrades, and after some time with the vanilla Isengard list you’ll get a handle on the style of play that suits you.

That being said, the Battlehost is still a great place to start, because it will set you up for a large number of options – so unless you’ve got your mind set on a particular Legendary Legion and would prefer to purchase only the troop type needed, the Battlehost is a much more cost effective option. THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY, THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG, THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES and the names of the characters, items, events and places therein are trademarks of The Saul Zaentz Company d/b/a Middle-earth Enterprises under license to New Line Productions, Inc. You will also have the Wilman Oathmaker who pairs very nicely with Wildmen of Dunland if you want some cheap fearless troops. But what this also means is that if you run 6 Warg Riders and 18 Orc Warriors (saving 6 guys to be dismounts), you'll be running an army that's 345pts in the normal game. Saruman is a powerful wizard, you have Grima to attach to an enemy warband (ideally one on foot) and mess up their Might spending, and 20 Uruk Hai and 24 Uruk Hai scouts. This battleforce contains 48 plastic Citadel miniatures for use in games of Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game and is an ideal way for existing players to bolster their forces, or for new collectors to get into the game.
