The all-new Hyperflex Carbon delivers tour-level stability and performance with a moulded carbon fibre power plate and additional underfoot cushioning, provided by an OrthoLite® Impressions FitBed®. One thing worth noting is that while the uppers are easy to clean, the fabric sock area can be a bit trickier if mud gets on it.

Updated for 2023, the new HyperFlex range comes in three men's models - HyperFlex, HyperFlex BOA, and HyperFlex Carbon. The look for me is topped off by the sock area at the top which really gives the shoe its athletic look and feel as well as offering a contrasting texture to the TPU used primarily on the upper.

However, I did find all this technology under the foot to raise the profile of the shoe - I prefer to feel a lot lower to the ground which is something I'd change. I do wonder how the BOA version would compare but I don’t hate the laces since the shoe is somewhat secure without them. It's part of a clear effort by FootJoy to go a bit bolder and brighter with some of its color options. From a performance perspective, the absolute highlight of this shoe is the Ortholite Impression Footbed.On-course traction - HyperFlex Carbon is equipped with Pulsar LP cleats by Softspikes® low profile spikes that deliver stability and support from the moment you step foot onto the course. The ThermoPlastic Saddle Strap wraps around your midfoot to provide noticeably elevated lateral stability. I don’t need wide shoes but I have to say I’m very disappointed in these new Hyperflex shoes as I was a fan of the previous version. Plenty of golfers will feel the benefit of this shoe in 2023, and I'm sure the historic success of the HyperFlex plus the improved aesthetic from the previous model will lead to this being one of FJ's most successful shoes of 2023.

Highlighted by the Ortholite Impressions Footbed, the brand has found the balance between comfort and high performance while packing it all into a sporty, colorful silhouette. Overall the HyperFlex Carbon is as well-rounded a spiked golf shoe as I have had the pleasure of testing. Pulsar LP cleats by Softspikes low profile spikes that deliver stability and support from the moment you step on the course. That said, does the added 8oz of weight garner that much more stability in that shoe compared the the true links?

The addition of the softer, tuned-for walking comfort, StratoFoam and OptiFlex plate creates the ultimate walking golf shoe. The FootJoy HyperFlex Carbon wide golf shoes are stable, durable, washable and should have no problem outliving their two-year waterproof warranty. The HyperFlex Carbon still feels a like a larger shoe than the likes of the adidas ZG23 and Puma Ignite Articulate and it's also on the heavier side when compared to the other best spiked shoes of the year, so bear that in mind if you want a more lightweight spiked golf shoe in your rotation. The Hyperflex Carbon differs from the original Hyperflex with the addition of a custom moulded carbon plate to provide unmatched stability.
