Description

Kaikomagatake, Suntory Single Malt Whisky Hakushu® is the gently smoky single malt whisky with herbal notes that is the revelation of Japanese single malts. The second distillery that the Suntory group opened in 1973 after Yamazaki in the Yamanashi prefecture in the foothills of Japan’s southern alps on Honshu. This whiskey boasts a smooth and refined finish that lingers, leaving a satisfying warmth that resonates long after the last sip. Straight from the untouched forests, mountains and pure waters of the Southern Japanese Alps, it is no wonder that Hakushu is a “green and fresh” whisky, praised by the most curious whisky connoisseurs and lovers of gastronomy. The blenders accepted the challenge of working with peat, made possible due to the distillery’s surrounding environment.

A light peat combined with moist forest floor, bamboo, grass, but more warm than bitter and a pinch of anise and tarragon. Some of the data that are collected include the number of visitors, their source, and the pages they visit anonymously.

The core range includes Distiller’s Reserve, the Hakushu 12 year old, Hakushu 18 year old, and Hakushu 25 year old.Japan's first whisky company was started by Shinjiro Torii in 1899 and to date, over 100 years later, Suntory are the leading producer of Japanese whisky, with Yamazaki and Hakushu malt distilleries and Chita grain distillery in. The water and environment at the Hakushu distillery is vastly different to that of the Yamazaki distillery; as is the creation process.
