Occasionally when writing ( well, trying to) a review words fail me and they have again with Bloody Rose by Nicholas Eames. This served to ensure that the characters were both relatable and real; characters deal with addiction, loss and many other themes in here. One account -- albeit riddled with inconsistencies -- suggests that she duelled with the leader of the Custodians who entered the Ecclesiarchal Palace during the siege, and that the two fought to a standstill before words of an alliance were finally spoken. She passed a snake-headed gorgon chained by her neck to brackets in the wall behind her, and a black horse that breathed fire into the face of someone fool enough to inspect its teeth. Tam is a fresh-faced seventeen-year-old girl who sees the Bands as flawless legends first, and it takes her a while to see past the glory and the supposedly glamorous and realize how much her bandmates are just barely holding themselves together.Like in his debut novel Kings of the Wyld, Eames pays clever homage to some of his favorite pop culture and musical references that may have inspired him throughout his life.

Bloody Rose isn’t a journey that is simply epic either, oh no, Bloody Rose is rock n’ fantasy cranked up even further to a whole new level of EPIC! Fable’s frontwoman wore a piecemeal suit of dull black plate slashed with red—except her gauntlets, which gleamed like new steel. However, apart from some spiky heavy metal imagery about vikings and stuff, the influence doesn’t go both ways. I'm 28 books into the Drizzt series and somehow I find myself more familiar and bonded to Tam and Fable than Drizzt and the Companions of the hall.She covers such a wide range of character voices and tones you'd think it was two people sometimes mastering the bizarre cast of characters and voice tones with considerable aplomb. And that’s all that you are getting regarding the story from me, trust me, you don’t want me to spoil anything as it’s a voyage that you want to discover for yourself. What few records survived through the Reign of Blood suggest that she served as Alicia Dominica's champion, and that when the reformer Sebastian Thor's armies descended upon Terra she slew some of the mightiest invading warriors in hand-to-hand combat. Mercenaries that tour as bands, a land populated by a myriad assortment of weird and wonderful grotesque monsters ( and owlbears), a variety of well-depicted locations and plenty of history. I think that it’s better than Kings of the Wyld, which I loved and this should in no way reflect badly on that gem of 2017.
