About this deal

This is how I perceive Aromatics Elixir, just a complete reverie for mother nature in a distinctly 1970s way. Farther into the dry down, the fragrance turns a bit sweet on my skin while retaining that rich base of Oakmoss, Patchouli, and Incense. It’s not a bad feeling, it’s just that this perfume doesn’t feel young at all, it’s a complex, heavy scent for a mature woman who wants everyone to know when she has arrived. In pratica prima era molto cupo, andava sul marrone, aveva molto incenso, adesso è stato portato verso il verde, fresco e umido, schiarito nella sua forma e reso più semplice, breve durata e poca forza di oscurità.

Rose essence, sandalwood and chamomile have toning and astringent qualities that also give a sense of calm. It's still beautiful, don't get me wrong, but it's rather "sharp" now and it doesn't last nearly as long. Aromatics Elixir by Clinique captures the essence of an old-fashioned countryside, exuding an herbal, slightly floral, and aromatic quality with a touch of romance. If she is straight, she had gay friends back when that was still an edgy concept for suburban housewives. There’s a perceivable chamomile smell that was kinda missing, aldehydes, neroli and more civet than before. AE is a scent for someone who has attained quiet self acceptance and feels no need to prove or explain anything to anyone.

But I'm quite sure that she had been wearing the vintage version, this one didn't pack as much floral punch as that one did. Renee My Personal Fragrance for Many Years My husband bought this for me many years ago and for me it is the perfect scent.I don't find it at all unpleasant, but I wonder whether the same accord wouldn't be a nightmare for someone such as my mum, who can't wear anything civety-musky without immediately needing to wash it off. Currently I can only wear the body lotion, half a pea amount and this way I can almost get away with it…. You can be trivial about the differences in the modern in comparison with the vintage, but at the end of the day the two smell the same. Either way, it’s a very beautiful adaptation, it lingers for hours, and bringing it closer to its 80’s version shows how multifaceted Aromatics can be without losing its traits. but after a while that stale, much-too-vintages scent is gone and there it is - the magnificent Aromatics Elixir itself!

I never utilize the "spray and walk through" method of putting fragrances on, but I'll make an exception for this one. Features rose essence, sandalwood, chamomile, oakmoss, jasmine, muguet, ylang-ylang, patchouli vetiver, musk, amber. I’m not a big patchouly fan so it might be that mixed with the coriander and sage was what annoyed me? Hard to add something new here - except for the odd fact that on me Experimentum Crucis from Etat Libre d'Orange dries down to something VERY similar to AE. Top notes are Chamomile, Aldehydes, Clary Sage, Coriander, Geranium, Lemon Verbena, Brazilian Rosewood and Bergamot; middle notes are Carnation, Rose, Ylang-Ylang, Orris Root, Jasmine, Tuberose and Orange Blossom; base notes are Oakmoss, Patchouli, Incense, Vetiver, Sandalwood and Musk.It DOES seem poisonous, like something to definitely be avoided, and is exactly what a witch in an old European fairy tale would smell like.

Obviously Aromatics Elixir had a presence of natural ingredients- spices are just real, absolutely naturalistic and very prominent. I like this "retro" scent (the very young might say "old lady" but it's lacking the powderiness I'd require for that label) although to my nose, it doesn't scream 70's (like I think my Revlon Ciara or Coty Musk do). For this masterpiece of modern perfumery, a light hand is critical: sillage, projection, and longevity kicks the hineys of 98% of fragrances in existence. The Goop types want what she had, but will never get it, because they're chasing an aspirational lifestyle the Aromatics Elixir woman never cared for much. The modern has a stronger floral arrangement upon first spraying, whereas the vintage hits you with the herbs and patchouli straight away. Quindi capisco perfettamente chi lo sente adesso e non gli piace, non avendo il confronto possibile con la versione vintage. Although they are equally heavy on the oakmoss, the sparkly rose dominance of 900 takes a backseat here to the much more emphasized dark patchouli and the heavy white floral notes: this seems much earthier, much more natural, and definitely more womanly. Well, she certainly didn't need any help in that area as she was one of the most beautiful women that I had ever seen, but I purchased my first bottle shortly thereafter and it was pure HEAVEN, I mean it had an oily, exotic quality to it.
