This year we pulled in the purse strings and decided to merge our 'nice' holiday with our camping holiday and booked with EuroCamp. I think I saw someone getting takeaway pizza from the actual restaurant, which were far better, might be worth a try! I believe the wine tasting is on daily and as far as I am aware there is no limit on how many times you can go back (I may be wrong).

Staying at a campsite in Biscarrosse is the ideal starting point to discover the Landes and its treasures. The guys at the front who rent the bikes, wine tasting and provide the canoeing excursion are lovely and most friendly, my husband and my son got on great with them. Very well maintained and close to the lake which itself has lots of fun activities - we went to the aqua park nearby which was brill. Our toilet window faced the next lodges lounge window, and you can actually touch the next property through the window as they squeeze them right in.

Electric BBQs are banned, probably because they use too much of the campsite electricity and cause power outages. Although there was a lifeguard on duty the pools are generally unsupervised so it’s so important to be monitoring your children and looking after yourselves and those around you. I’m unsure if in peak season there will be more but I have heard lifeguards are quite strict when it comes to people leaving towels on loungers and going out for the day. Even in the cool April breeze there were so many young people donning their wetsuits and getting in the sea.

The ideal geographical location of our campsite in Biscarrosse is ideal for discovering the Landes, enjoying the lake of Biscarrosse and its many water activities (kitesurfing, jet skiing, canoeing, paddle, etc. It was partially finished during our stay and I think they were waiting for 1 more climbing structure to be fully ready.

But my main concern was how dirty our place was, the floors were grim, the oven unusable as it was filthy, shelves covered in dust. We were staying in one of the new cabins and it was terrific, very comfortable and quiet despite being close to the entertainment etc.

The playroom at Camping La Rive has so many retro arcade style games including pinball machines, table football, air hockey pool and of course go kart race simulators. We did find the rainy days to be extra busy in there and as there is no food/drinks or seating for adults, it really is all about the kids. Great campsite on the lake, the water in the lake is lovely and warm, water is shallow well out into the lake, restaurant on site is ok food could be a bit better. I imagine things have changed in the 4 years we have been away from the campsite and unfortunately we never got to try the restaurant out this time round (2023). Enjoying the shade of the pines that dot the property, they are all equipped with an electric supply and are close to the most essential amenities.Security entering and leaving the site was good with a guard on duty during the day to stop visitors, this seemed to work well and the only on site traffic was from residents. The site is well sign posted from the main road outside, however our sat nav sent us to a completely different place. We had to keep most of the curtains closed all the time so people weren’t looking right into the bedrooms and living area from their verandas. Mozzies are a bit on the carnivorous side and there are a lot of bugs around because you are so close to the lake and forests. We didn’t do much exploring the area as it was quite hot while we were there and didn’t want to drag the kids around site seeing, we did however go to ‘Park Kids’ which was under €50 for a family of four, it was quiet on the day we went but it was a nice day out, there was also a little theme park next door and a water park in the same area but we didn’t try these out.
