About this deal

In this third volume of the Famous Five series, events start off on a horrid note as the children discover that the packets of sandwiches they have wheedled from the new kitchen lackey are not very nice—too stale, too thick, and worst of all, not enough butter! Two stars less for this one - due mainly to the appalling class snobbery displayed throughout the Famous Five’s third adventure. This article includes a list of references, related reading, or external links, but its sources remain unclear because it lacks inline citations.

She is also the author of other favourites including The Secret Seven, The Magic Faraway Tree, Malory Towers and Noddy. But I use these as teaching moments - how people have learned to see, do and say things differently. I chose this rating because when ever you finish a chapter you want to read on because it gets so exciting. The parts I skip if I can is where they meet new friends (not in this particular book I’m reviewing) whose parents have died (hence they have a mean uncle/guardian who is up to no good and the F5 have to solve the mystery).

In Five Run Away Together, Julian’s character comes out into the light more, and this pompousness is continued and revisited throughout the rest of the series. After that they still felt hungry, so they opened two tins of sardines and dug them out with biscuits. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. These days one simply cannot hire anybody off the street to look after children, and if one does so without performing the proper checks, then one could also get oneself in trouble. Now, in this new series of Enid Blyton for Grown-Ups, George, Dick, Anne, Julian and Timmy confront a new challenge: what exactly is this puzzling scrape referred to as a 'strategy away day'?

In the 1990s TV series, Jennifer's father is General Armstrong, who has information on the Gemini project. Along with her equally awful husband, son and dog, they are hellbent on making life as unpleasant as possible for the five. She has over 600 children's books to her credit, including the Famous Five series, the Secret Seven series, the Naughtiest Girl series - all Hodder - and the Malory Towers and St Clare's series, both available from Hodder on audio.I will have to say that I quite enjoyed this book, especially with the nice little twist at the end.
