About this deal

These states, shielded by an invisible forcefield and known as Havens, are designed to protect inhabitants from the world beyond. To sum this up quickly so i can get back to reading- this is hands down worth it, and an incredible read. However, this year, she is one of five girls that will compete to become the next Empress of Latia, her homeland. If you have been abused or know of anyone going through abuse this story would be a great read for you! I found out about this book on TikTok and was immediately sold when it was advertised as Greek/Roman mythology and enemies-to-lovers.

Bottom line: If you’re looking for a book in the inspirational genre with a tortured heroine who’s been through an experience similar to Mary’s but that has a gentler, less preachy message, and a much more positive outcome, try Francine Rivers’s Redeeming Love, which is a far superior book IMHO.Trigger Warning: This book contains a substantial amount of content relating to domestic abuse, sexual assault, kidnapping, child abuse, drug abuse, and suicidal ideation. Female protagonist Electa Steel lives an ordinary life in a Haven, until her seventeenth birthday where the annual Choosing threatens to tear her world apart. Publishers Weekly had chosen The Divine for "top ten graphic novel for spring 2015", [10] describing it later on as: "Heady, hellacious, and phantasmagoric". Her talent for deception is the only thing keeping her alive, for now, but if Electa is anything, it’s defiant, and she will defy the path fate has laid before her and the will of men who try to control her until her last breath. Books soon became her best friend, so it was only natural that she should develop a passion for creative writing at school.

There was a hint of desperation she hadn’t heard in him until now, and gooseflesh rippled across her arms beneath her thin sweater. Douglas Wolk from The New York Times described it as "a too rare example of artists getting top billing", referring to the artwork by Asaf and Tomer Hanuka.

To be ever faithful and full of hope through such unspeakable attrocities such as she suffered, Mary Madison was a very strong and wonderful character. The first few chapters serve to tell us that Electa is a bad fighter, and setting up a relationship with Lana. The former special forces officer is heading to Europe, to go face to face with some of Putin's most killer henchmen! It was eventide, the moment between darkness and light, when the constellations began to dust the sky and the city lamps flickered to life in reply.

The story line wasn't bad but there a few "holes" and I quickly grew tired of "all you need is Jesus" and "only Jesus can rescue you. At the crossroads of her life, only one power set Mary free and gave her a lifetime of love and hope. Meanwhile, in the peaceful Surrey town where Grace works as a newspaper reporter, there are some strange goings on. Now that I've seen this aspect of my character all I want to do is fall down on my face and beg Jesus never to leave me. Trying to comes to terms with the crime she believes she has got away with, Grace starts writing her confession.Pick a quiet spot, make sure you have a large box of tissues, your Bible, and your Grandma's picture or phone number nearby. I do love a good enemies-to-lovers romance and this one has all the best features, including Winnie’s general dislike for Roman while he has always liked and admired her. Karen Kingsbury means well, but I think she tries too hard to give her books a Christian message, that it comes out as being unrealistic and stylized.

Feeling suppressed by her society’s rules and expectations, she rebels quietly in the only ways she knows how – drinking, smoking, fighting, and partying. I am a strong believer and do agree with the previous statement, but the way it was applied seemed naive. Additionally, I completely dislike the way that the relationship of two adult believers was portrayed: though they clearly loved each other, they refrained from starting a relationship/getting married because they each "committed themselves fully to God's work".grew up on isolated Dartmoor, in England, surrounded by nature, and as an only child, there was not much to do but read. other than the roman names, nothing about this explores a world where the roman empire never failed. With her sights only set on a strange Celtic vase carved with her image, Shannon bids for the urn that seems to possess an intriguing force- and she emerges the winner. The publication concludes with a discussion of contemporary art and modern interpretations of goddesses. Then the main character talks in condescending platitudes about the rough side of DC and how these "rough" kids aren't so rough now that they're going to Bible study classes.
