D’usse is naturally aged for at least four and a half years in the cellars of France’s Château de Cognac.

The next phase of this journey will further cement D’Usse’s legacy as one of the world’s most respected brands. The result is a stunning Extra Old Cognac that has been left to sleep in French barrels and develop depth and complexity in flavor and aroma. Intended for cocktail use, this VSOP has a deliberately brisk profile and powerful flavors: toffee, hazelnut, cocoa, oak and a dry, rather tannic finish that pulls up abruptly. SCLiquor had sought a new owner for D’Usse over fears Bacardi subsidiary Empire Investments – which oversees its day-to-day operations – was mismanaging the Cognac brand. Distinctive and unexpectedly sweet, it reveals notes of spices and almonds with hints of honey and dried fruits at the end of the tasting.

I wanted to create a Cognac that transcended palatable expectations — a spirit that could be savored on its own or harmoniously blended with cocktails. Wine Enthusiast gave this Cognac 90/100 points, describing the flavors as “melting into bold, sweet vanilla, caramel, and clove”.

The new drink boasts a wide range of flavours: notes of blackberry, black currant, and a touch of cherry are complemented by vanilla, honey, and vine-peach flavours. Add equal parts of cognac, peach syrup, cold-infused green tea and champagne into a punch bowl of ice. Crafted at one of the oldest Cognac houses in France, the Château de Cognac, it makes for stunning eaux-de-vie that quite literally soak up the atmosphere of where they are located.
