Erykah Badu's revolution in sound -- heavier hip-hop beats over organic, conscientious soul music -- was responsible for her breakout, but many of the songs on Baduizm don't hold up to increased examination.The voluptuous instrumentation is seductive, the desire is overwhelming but its her rich liquid cocoa voice that lingers long after she’s finished. The vinyl crackle of ‘No Love’ was a favoutite technique of the time giving an analouge vibe to the cut while the lush ‘Drama’ is cool at it’s finest. Baduizm's artwork is minimal, but it really comes to life and brings forth small details I'd never noticed before.

I have all of Erykah Badu's CDs and always wanted to listen to Baduizm on vinyl, because the fantastic bass usually comes across better on vinyl.
