About this deal

The lens ships with the H-H025 hood, a round hood with matte black ridges in the interior to cut down on veiling flare. Anyway, I don't think a lens with unavoidable internal reflection artifacts when the sun is in the frame qualifies for a gold ranking. Is the extra optical oomph worth the upgrade over the iPhone 15 Pro’s 3x (77mm equivalent) telephoto? It worked better with the E-M1, but still seems to need a firmware–the GX8 probably needs an update also. Therefore, it remains very good value especially to system newcomers keen to own a lightweight but high performing lens that suits a broad range of photographic genres.

Portability without compromising creativity is a key selling point of the Micro Four Thirds (MFT) camera standard that was announced in 2008 by two major imaging brands, Olympus (now OM Digital Solutions) and Panasonic. An inner focus drive system and stepping motor for smooth, silent operation to work with the camera’s high-speed, high-precision Contrast AF system for both photo and video recording. Features like articulating screens, touch screen, touch AF, and 10fps common to even first gen OMD MFT cameras will likely be off the table when venturing into older digital full frame land. Lens construction consists ofeight elements in seven groups, including two aspherical lenses to reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations for increased sharpness and clarity.I wanted to get an idea beforehand as I was simply not sure if it could be an issue of the lens or an issue of me handling it the wrong way.

The UHR (Ultra High Refractive Index) lens and aspherical lenses achieve uniformed description from the center to the edges. That's a small, fast, cheap, nice looking lens for sure, but I am largely held back by the many reports of slow AF (especially on Olympus bodies which is all I have), and it's maybe a little close to 25mm. The autofocus is very quick, so there are no cheap/compromised AF actuators in here, and if you switch to manual focus the travel is both very precise and yet very smooth. This lens doesn’t have the best stabilisation in the World either so only use it when you’re behind the camera (or if it’s on a tripod of course). It will be very interesting to see how the modern equivalent fills the same niche for current MFT cameras. You may notice ghosting when shooting directly into the sun, usually manifesting as a multiple-color haze or purple blobs.

It's a lens that goes everywhere and doesn't guilt-trip you if you don't happen to actually use it on that outing. My Panasonic GH5 Review after 12 Months of Use I’ve now owned the Panasonic GH5 for a little over a year. The inclusion of f/22 as an option is fine if we need the depth of field, but for the best results should really be avoided. I'm sure Mr Bresson could do just as well or maybe take even more interesting photos with a 35mm with the same speed, . The big downsides are slow/slower AF and lack of AF-C support - so not so good for video or action shooting especially since Olympus cams like om-d E-M1 mk ii, iii, E-M5 mk iii have very reliable and convenient AF-C in video now too.I wouldn’t thing twice about using it wide open, and this gives a decent shallow depth of field effect, especially at closer focusing distances. The first was taken with the full frame Canon 1Ds Mark II at ISO 3200 and the second taken with the MFT PEN-F at ISO 5000. There's no optical stabilization, though this shouldn't matter for the vast majority of shooters, as almost all modern Micro Four Thirds bodies have internal IS. I will put more and more photos and I hope that the group will grow, and gladly answer to all the questions I know the answer. It's quite possible that the lense is decentered, and the sharpest part of the image is on the right.
