I really didn't want a large soundbar or separate sub woofers etc so opted for this and am absolutely delighted.

I have a Quad hifi set up in my main home, and whilst that is obviously better, the SF200 does not sound horrible in comparison (as I expected it to). You can use this soundbar to listen to voice-oriented content like podcasts, audiobooks, or TV shows. On the upside, the soundstage is focused, which is good as objects seem to come from an accurate pin-point location rather than a general area. However, if you want to use your soundbar as a hub between devices, you may prefer the Sony because it has an HDMI Out port. It also doesn’t have a good bass performance, but this won’t matter as much since there isn't much bass on center channels to begin with.

It work's a treat, I have changed the settings in my TV to tell it that it has the sound bar, so use the active sound from there. Am currently listening to Debussy's Nocturnes, and it feels like sitting in front of the orchestra, rather than a speaker. uk - Offer of the day Designated trademarks, brands and images are the property of their respective owners. The Sony HT-SF200 remote control is a direct replacement for the original remote, and provides all the functions to control the device. If connected to a Sony TV you can put the remote control that comes with this in the bottom drawer and forget it.The S200F doesn’t support height channels and Atmos, which means it won’t deliver a very immersive experience. Unfortunately, it's quieter than the HT-S100F due to its small size and its soundstage is pretty narrow too. Although the Sony HT-S200F has a fairly neutral sound profile, its bass is quite poor and doesn’t reproduce accurately the low punch and thump of bass-heavy music even though it has an integrated subwoofer.

The Sony is also smaller and easier to fit in your setup, on top of being a bit better-built, although still cheaply made. It has a more neutral sound profile, it can downmix surround content, and it also has a shared HDMI ARC/Out input. The Dolby Duel surround sound system and built in subwoofer is superb and the units size of just under 2ft or 600mm in length will fit on or under most TV stands. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

The Sony can also get a bit louder and performs well at max volume, while the Bose compresses a bit in the bass range.

I had expected more for this kind of money, the fact the product is a Sony AND, as I say, my SMART TV is a Sony as well. The Yamaha has two built-in subwoofers, which gives it a very dark sound profile, while the HT-S200F is a bit better-balanced and neutral.
