The "effects pedal port" was included in the X-Plorer controllers so Activision might, sometime in the future, release an effects pedal. To solve this problem, I’m going to remove the cumbersome USB cable and replace it with a sleek and modern USB-C jack. Similarly, many 3rd party controller manufacturers were hesitant to switch to the new wireless systems and only offered their controllers with bulky, permanently attached cables.

there are fixes though, and more current models seem to be more dependable(seems like everyone i know thats bought it lately got a good one, and people i know who bought it at launch said it was pretty and put it down and plugged in an xplorer). However, although the jack is the same shape as an RJ14, the jack on the X-Plorer controllers only uses two of the potential four wires.Note: if you need to do anything with the strum you’ll need to open the neck as well due to the ribbons for the fret PCB.

Using the boot as a reference, I designed a small plug in Fusion 360 and 3D printed it out of white ABS. This same controller was also bundled with Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock for the personal computer (PC) and Macintosh.These come out easily with a few turns of a screwdriver, and then the back of the guitar lifts off with no resistance.
