Description

Denji’s a poor young man who’ll do anything for money, even hunting down devils with his pet devil-dog Pochita. He’s a simple man with simple dreams, drowning under a mountain of debt.

It is a very good introduction volume, I can't believe we had the PV for the anime a few days ago, It looks so cool! The plot itself basic. Not every story is supposed to be intricate with a dozen branching subplots and characters to go with, but this feels very formulaic, as in, like every shonen manga ever, though more horny. And the writing feels immature, unedited, and not cohesive at all in some places. It's like if Mineta was the protagonist of My Hero Academia. Alongside the early news of the manga’s resumption in Summer, the first PV trailer for the Chainsaw Man anime series was released at the MAPPA 10th Anniversary event in June 2021. The cover depicts Denji transformed into Chainsaw Man cutting through and standing upon a group of Zombie Devil's minions while vast amounts of green blood spray into the air around him. The first volume covers the origins and Denji’s arrival with a group of civil servant demon hunters. All Denji wants is to work enough to eat and maybe finally get to touch some boobs. To wrap things up and not gush too much, admittedly there are times where dialogue can be clunky and the plot a little hurried, but these are so few and overshadowed by moments of brilliance that personally I wasn’t overly bothered. Keep in mind this is a young author and this is one of their early works (it’s going to be exciting to follow their career!). At its most essential, Chainsaw Man has a huge heart. You may have to saw your way through some fat to get to it, but hey, the fat’s where all the flavor is, right? However, not a single Chainsaw Man instalment featured on the top-15 best-selling volumes of 2021; being dominated instead by Jujutsu Kaisen, One Piece and Demon Slayer. But his sad life gets turned upside down one day when he’s betrayed by someone he trusts. Now with the power of a devil inside him, Denji’s become a whole new man-Chainsaw Man! Regardless, this is too fun to pass out on (although knowledge of its sudden end is saddening). Onto the next volume!

Questionable motivations aside, he has a heart of gold, is more intelligent than he gives himself credit (as so many kids are), and grows a LOT over the course of the series, which is of course part of the joy of reading it. I’d imagine it’s something like the feeling a teacher gets as they watch a student grow and mature. Take your basic monster hunter premise and insert a very dim protagonist who can magically protrude chainsaws from his arms and face and whose major dreams are pretty simple: food, shelter, and oh yeah, "I wanna touch some boobs . . . " Dear reader, it is completely nuts! Yes, there's the tired trope of the boy obsessing over a girl, but it has some fun with it - the girl basically has no interest in him, and has all the power. One minute they are there and next, they are gone. It's pretty much worse as the GOT last episode with killing potential characters who needed more screen time..... So at the start we have Denji who is trying to survive. He'll do pretty much anything for some money. He also has his trusty dog Pochita, who has a actual chainsaw coming out of his freaking head. So together they kill devils and make money. But one day something horrible happens to Denji and Pochita must do something to save him. Tus Chainsaw Man is born!

And with that, this insane manga keeps going. I'll be honest first chapter or two I enjoyed but didn't love. However, when they began to bring in a great supporting cast and insane battles the manga kept getting better and better. The humor also kept increasing, but in the right way, and I began laughing at a few parts every chapter.

The second issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine would then revealed that the series would receive a “second part” that would be a direct continuation of chapter 97. Pretty much the only 'personality' trait of the main character is that he's desperate to touch some boobs Last December, one year after the series reached its hiatus, Oricon revealed the best-selling manga series and volumes of 2021 and to nobody’s surprise, Chainsaw Man features! And of course there’s action, but if that’s what you came here for then you probably didn’t need to read this review because you already know how good it is. After an 18-month hiatus, the release date for Part 2 of the Chainsaw Man manga series has finally been confirmed on social media.

The news was first shared by the manga series editor Shihei Lin on social media, confirming that serialisation will resume in Jump Plus from July 13th. Tatsuki Fujimoto 藤本タツキ (Fujimoto Tatsuki) is a Japanese manga author, mostly known for Chainsaw Man. The story itself is so captivating, It really gets me in my feelings everytime, I really love Denji and Pochita so much!! This is a mostly spoiler-free (there are some context-less images) review of the entire first part of Chainsaw Man (volumes 1-11). My goal is to encourage everyone to read at least as far as volume 3, and preferably (if this review is as persuasive as I’d like it to be) through volume 6 before writing the series off as simple, juvenile, needlessly vulgar, or some combination of all of these. Tatsuki Fujimoto is neither a simple nor juvenile writer, though that doesn’t stop them from indulging in the mindless joy of drawing a chainsaw-armed creature messily murderizing some zombies. But blood-splattered action is by no means all this series has to offer. This article will be updated as more information on Chainsaw Man part 2 is shared online in the build-up to the manga series’ highly anticipated return next month. Personally, a story with such over-sexualised utilisation of female characters and male ones who perpetuate these ideas of women in fiction, especially in graphic novels and with young adults, is not something I'm comfortable with reading. For me, there is no interest in a wishy-washy main character who keeps nearly getting himself killed because he can't stop thinking about boobs and, more importantly, touching them. But if that's your thing, go for it. There are plenty of volumes at this point to invest in. Then, at the 2022 Jump Festa event, it was confirmed that Part 2 of the Chainsaw Man manga series would release in Summer 2022, but a specific launch window was not revealed – leading to significant frustration amongst the global community. On December 14 th 2020, following the release of chapter 97, it was officially confirmed that the Chainsaw Man manga would be taking an extended hiatus but with the promise that one day, it would eventually return for a second part. A several-chapter arc dedicated to the main character trying to convince a female character to let him touch her boobs
