Description

This traditional Swiss braided loaf is made from plain flour, eggs, butter, sour cream and yeast, and is brushed with egg yolk before baking to give it a shiny golden crust. That’s because there are few smells more welcoming than the aroma of freshly baked bread, straight out of the oven. Unlike its little brother, the Kenwood BM250 has a delay timer which allows you to delay the bread making process by up to 15 hours. Enjoying a slice of your own homemade bread, slathered in butter or dipped in oil is one of life’s greatest pleasures.

Unfortunately after half a dozen (perfect) loaves the bread pan started coming loose during kneading. The standard recipes are simple enough; they require skimmed milk powder, but this is easy to get hold of and cheap. Easy to use full instructions easy to follow,The only thing about this model is the kneader is just push in tends to come out with bread, later models have a push and twist this is not a big problem as you just pull out of bread when you take it from the pan. The company replaced the Breadmaker the next day but the new one had a similar fault, this time the bread pan jammed on the second use. Flour types are different in every country so make sure u know what kind of flour is used in the recipe, and then calculate it in volume (desilitres) and then calculate the weight how it corresponds to the flour available in your country.which is very helpful that's what I found hard to figure out with the other models I have previously used. If you have an affected unit, please stop using your blender and contact us for more information and to get a free replacement part. The clear, bright display panel is easy to see but the controls could do with more written graphics. If you experience a power cut mid way through the baking process, the unit will remember where it was and carry on where it left off. I’ve seen squat bread makers with large footprints, which are easier to put away in a cupboard but take up more room on your kitchen worktop, and tall bread makers with small footprints, but the BM260 is compact in every direction.

The bread maker still produced a very squat loaf with the consistency of dwarf bread, however; it was a challenge to eat, if a tasty one. Kenwood’s latest machine also has an array of pre-programmed recipes, including premium white, gluten-free or pizza dough, cake and jam functions, plus three loaf sizes. It's just a shame that the design of very simple mechanical components has been botched, specially when compared to our Kenwood Chef which has been used without any problems for around 25 years ! The bread and dough programs include: basic, French, whole wheat, sweet, gluten free, packet mix, cake, dough, pasta dough, jam, bake and rapid bake. Like the more expensive Kenwood BM450, the BM260 has fan-assisted baking, which Kenwood claims provides more even baking.

Having read all the reviews on the Kenwood 250 breadmaker I am beginning to wonder if we are all talking about the same machine. Please check the type and record the date code, which can be found on the rating plate, located on the underside of the product. The display is a difficult to see when the breadmaker is on a standard height worktop and you are somewhat short in height!I have tried a variety of loaves and my ultimate favourite is the sundried tomato which has a little parmesan cheese that makes for a crispy and tasty crust. This concern grew to grave disapointment after my first attempt at making a loaf turned out rubbish (a brick - didn't rise). These tasty seeded bread rolls are simple to make, making this recipe a great one to get the kids involved with. This bread machine has a convection fan to control the temperature for an even bake and a rapid bake function that can have a loaf baked and ready in under an hour.

I rate this above the Panasonic breadmakers, and it really does do a nice loaf of white bread in 58 minutes. I’ve had seven years of noisy clanking sounds, mixer paddles getting stuck in the loaf, bread not rising. The rolls gave me the best of both worlds - the machine kneaded them whilst I got on with other cooking, and then I knocked them back and shaped them. This was a replacement for a previous slightly different Kenwood bread machine, which Lakeland kindly replaced for me when the lid broke. The amount of water can be modified to get the best result, personally I use 220ml instead of the 240ml printed in the recipe book.
