Get Shit Done
- Brand: Unbranded
Description
Once you have stated your intentions, take each of your goals and break them out into a series of smaller goals that you can accomplish each month throughout the year. Then, take it further and break it down into what you can handle a week at a time. And who doesn’t enjoy rubbing shoulders with their ambitions? For more guidance on infusing your life with meaning, look no further. 3. Keep it simple
And if you work at home like I do, it can be very easy to get distracted – mail, chats, pets, laundry – you get it.I used to work 100-hour weeks, pulling all-nighters and wearing my “hustle” as a badge of honour (believe me – I got shit done!). But, then I had kids, and my priorities changed BIG-time.
Consistently putting less important tasks further down on your to-do list will make a tremendous difference in your business growth, revenue, and engagement with clients and teams. For one thing, the act of writing out a list forces us to set concrete goals (To-do: “Take out the trash.”). This can be way more effective than thinking about vague objectives (To-don’t: Get cleaner) . When time’s up, it’s up. There’s no spending 6 hours at the Laundromat, no matter how much you want to put off calling your mom. Not everyone runs on lists. However, if you’re struggling to make sense of your goals, a list could save you time, energy, and the need to come up with excuses for when the thing that needs to happen, well, doesn’t. Along with uncountable health benefits, exercise also has a lot of cognitive benefits, all of which you can expect as a result of incorporating regular exercise into your routine: You could try an interactive journal: Pierre Khawand, work and productivity expert, has a book called The Perfect 15-Minute Day: Managing Your Time, Thoughts, and Emotions, which helps you stay aware of what you’re working on and stay focused by working in highly productive bursts of short 15-minute increments.
As much as I like talking about creative resistance, self doubt, courage, creative processes, sometimes we need to take a big gulp of courage and just take action. So today I’m sharing with you 20 things you can do right now to start getting shit done so you can start bringing your ideas to life. Some are deceptively simple and some seem counterintuitive but they all work. Every time I do a Q&A, or a talk, I get asked some variation of the “how do you get shit done?” question. It’s happened so many times now, that I thought I’d write a post to tell you exactly how I maximise my productivity – and I can then save even more time, by pointing people here, instead of giving long-winded answers (meaning I can spend my valuable time getting shit done, rather than answering the same question again and again!) Every day, see which items from the master list and weekly project list should move to the HIT list. You’ll find that the big hitters from your master list start to play a more active role in your day-to-day. There shouldn’t be more than 10 items remaining. The rest can go on the weekly projects list or the master list.Try sharing that to-do list. Whether you post it on the refrigerator or set up a digital calendar that everyone involved with the project can access, this lets those relying on you know that you have the task(s) in hand. 12. Schedule scheduling Regular practice of meditation will increase your concentration power which leads to an increase in productivity. I wrote more about 90-day goal setting, and how to optimise it in my first book Big Ideas… for Small Businesses .
