Description

Raised by nuns in an orphanage, she rose to become a star of the world of couture and a byword for stylish elegance. In a time when children were meant to be seen and not heard, along came Coco, a small French orphan with an eye for style, a talent for sewing, and a big imagination.

With a new foreword and previously unseen images, this new edition delves even deeper into the life and legacy of this eternally alluring woman. Distrustful of his intentions to set up production on the outskirts of New York City, Chanel fights to seize ownership. As the holidays roll around, you might have a little bit more time to read and fully immerse yourself in a great story. Chanel blurred her past so successfully that large swathes of the book were essentially saying 'but of course, nobody really knows. Coco Chanel could be cheerful, lighthearted, and generous; she also could be ruthless, manipulative, even cruel.I was really drawn into the book, picturing the setting of her life, the photos within the book really helped you to be drawn into her world. Their fierce competition reaches new and dangerous heights as the Nazis and the looming threat of World War II bear down on Paris. Feared and revered by her contemporaries, Chanel died in 1971, but her legacy lives on as an enduring global brand. If you have a recommendation of a book about her that speaks more about her business acumen and creative vision please leave a note in the comments. We get to see and celebrate many of Coco’s achievements and the feminist river that flows through all of them.

The book was full of facts, but much of the book seemed to stray into the lives of those around Chanel.

Chanel designed first and foremost for herself: by creating clothes fit for an independent and active lifestyle, she anticipated the needs and wants of the modern woman. a certain partiality in the way she treats some events of Coco´s life, and her decisions, can be felt in some parts of the book. Her name was Coco Chanel, and her couture creations revolutionized women’s fashion, winning fans around the world.

Fueled in part by the romantic literature of the nineteenth century, a life that was partly fiction and partly fact. I’d highly recommend this to anyone looking for an interesting overview of her life and for gaining deeper insight into dispelling the rumors and confirming the knowns and unknowns out there. Take a walk down the Parisian catwalk and follow the story of Chanel’s life, and of the high-fashion house she founded.Men did dominate her financially to some extent especially when it came to her famous perfume Chanel No. however Coco´s life is fascinating and draws you in so much that u can forget the style of writting. Those stories, also fully explained care and time pay for her each work, this is also the reason why she became the representative of fashion.

Meet three inspirational Earth Heroes whose love of the natural world inspires them to make a difference: Jane Goodall, Greta Thunberg, and David Attenborough! Throwing new light on her passionate and turbulent relationships, this beautifully constructed portrait gives a fresh and penetrating look at how Coco Chanel made herself into her own most powerful creation. I loved learning about coco Chanel but I felt like as much as I learned about her I also did not, if that makes sense. She studied Visual Communication at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and illustration at the University of the Arts Berlin, where she is based now. The author’s attempt is all the more remarkable because Chanel fabricated her story by telling various versions of stories of her childhood. I really enjoyed this book, before I picked this up I didn't know much about the life of Coco Chanel but feel Rose gave us a thorough account of her life without being too overwhelming. Justine Picardie suggests that Jeanne died of ‘poverty, pregnancy and pneumonia’ when Chanel was aged 11. Coco Chanel is a name and iconic brand that everyone knows about however apart from her name, suits and perfume I knew very little about the woman and her life behind the name.
