What syphilis, strokes, heart attacks, pokers applied to the body - what they'd do system by system to cause death. She has over 188,000 followers on TikTok who love tuning into her stories of how famous monarchs met their end. Well, it's nothing compared to 9 days in the Monarchy and as Charlie Higson discovers, her tale is a tragic one. Mind you, your co-workers might find you slightly odd for enjoying such a read, but I've experienced it's also a perfect topic of conversation.

It is absolutely financial and it goes past just the kings and speaks to other important figures and British history doctor edge from her tik tok channel. Philippa is a Historian and History Event Organiser Philippa Lacey Brewell lives in Central England and is well respected in her field as a historian and tour guide. This ability to engage an audience, as well as being an expert in traveling the historical sites of the UK, makes her your perfect guide.I really enjoyed this, despite most of the information was something I knew before especially up to Tudors so there wasn't much new info there for me. Her description of Mary I may make anyone with a more than passing interest in Tudor history cringe. Suzie Edge cleverly wrote about the demise of monarchs, explaining theories and going into the cringe-worthiness of it all. In this bonus episode, Charlie Higson welcomes Dr Suzie Edge, author of 'Mortal Monarchs - 1,000 Years of Royal Deaths' and 'Vital Organs - The History of the Worlds Most Famous Body Parts' to talk about her work studying the ways Monarchs died.

I have to admit skimming some of the medical details due to my personal ‘ick factor’, and that’s why I’ve given this three stars rather than four or five - it’s just my own sense of queasiness holding me back. I should probably give a word of warning - if you have a weak stomach or are particularly sensitive to your mortality, this probably isn't the book for you. Perhaps simplifying complex reigns is just a limitation of the format and shouldn't be held against the book. In school many of us learned the dates they died and who followed them, but sadly never heard the varied and oft-gruesome - way our monarchs met their maker. It is absolutely financial and it goes past just the kings and speaks to other important figures and British history. While some books don’t do well being read by the author, I enjoyed the audible version of this book, and felt Dr.

Informative and quick paced this was a really interesting book from Suzie Edge about the possible causes of death of the monarchs ranging from Edward the Confessor to George VI. both suitable for people who aren't health experts but interesting enough in manner that isn't too simplistic for doctors to learn. Three stars is very much a recommendation, though, and those who love that sort of thing will definitely find enjoyment here! The details are intersting and also satisfyingly gruesome, looking not only at the probable causes of death, but also at how the deaths were presented, and what that presentation was intended to say about each monarch's rule.

This is a used book - there is no escaping the fact it has been read by someone else and it will show signs of wear and previous use.
