Create jewellery using moulds, epoxy resin and a chain. They’re super easy to make using pre-made moulds and it means nobody else will have the same piece as you! Moreover, I enjoy creating DIY dried flower projects such as dried flower wax melts, suspending dried flower petals in soap, and homemade lavender sachets. Have you ever pressed flowers!? It’s such a beautiful way to preserve flowers from a special occasion that you want to remember for far longer than the fresh blooms will last… and today I’m going to show you how to press flowers in the microwave… in under two minutes! Place your flowers onto the paper and add another layer of paper over your layout — just think flower/paper sandwich!

You may need to complete the drying process in a book or press but this should only take a couple of days. How to display pressed flowers: Ideas and inspiration I have a love for collecting and preserving flowers. Each season opens up the opportunity to preserve new flowers in a range of colors: Bluebonnets and tiny pink redbuds in the spring. Purple salvia and yellow sunflowers in the summer, for example. It can be thrilling to capture the colors and textures of flowers and plants each season offers. I got to team up with Edible and create this project using flowers from their FruitFlowers bouquets! Yes, in addition to the incredible chocolate dipped fruit we all know and love, they also sell fresh seasonal flowers! Delivered, of course, right alongside that yummy chocolate dipped fruit. Best of both worlds: flowers to brighten someone’s day and a delicious treat to enjoy along with it! Follow these step-by-step instructions on how to press flowers in the microwave for great results! You’ll need a microwave flower press, scissors, tweezers, lining paper, and something to store your flowers in. I like to use glassine bags or sealed reusable bags like this. You can also start with a microwave press kit, as I did. To create perfectly dried and flattened flowers, you’ll need more than just a good flower press. You’ll also need the proper absorbent paper, not to mention scissors and a few other useful supplies. The list of twenty-five flowers, leaves, and herbs that I shared here is ideal for pressing. But I’ve found that fresh flowers and plants of low moisture work best for a microwave press. And it is generally a good idea to avoid white flowers because they tend to brown more easily when heated. Bright-colored flowers, on the other hand, retain their hues much better. How do you press flowers in the microwave? Drill a hole in each corner of the boards, about 1 inch from the edge. Make sure you match the size of your bolts and line up the holes on both boards. Step 2: Arrange flowers in between cardboard and paper

Make decorative floral dishes that look beautiful in the kitchen by pressing these dried flowers into polymer clay. Create candles that smell as pretty as they look with wax, a glass jar, your favourite essential oils and pressed flowers. Price can be based on a number of factors: the quality of materials (especially for wooden presses), whether or not your kit is customizable, quality of blotting paper if included, if technology is involved, if devices are handmade, artisan creations, etc. Cut the cardboard to fit inside the plywood or MDF, working around the four holes where you will insert the bolts. Lay a piece of blotting paper on top of the cardboard, and arrange the flowers on top as desired.

If using a bouquet, keep it in water until ready to press. (Tip: Always cut stems at an angle and place flowers in a vase with flower food to maintain freshness. Replace water daily and remove any leaves below the water line.) Another speedier method, pressing flowers in the microwave is possible using a specific microwave flower press kit or by making your own. To make an at-home kit safe for the microwave, place your flower between 2 pieces of paper, followed by cardboard and finally two ceramic tiles. Hold it all together using rubber bands. Microwave low for 30 to 60 seconds and let the press cool completely in between each round. There are flower press kits for adults and kids alike, starting at ages 5+. Kits for kids are made of extra-durable materials, and many include jumbo-sized screws that small hands can easily twist off. These often come with glue or tape as well, just to make the process a bit easier. But, who knows, you might not consider this an obstacle! It all comes down to experimenting with different options and finding what meets your projects’ needs. You don’t need perfectly pressed flowers to incorporate them into other artwork, soaps, candles, etc. Price After you have the correct supplies, it’s all about how you want to style the flowers in the frame from there! Here’s three ideas for how to arrange your fresh flowers:

Choose flowers that have recently bloomed and are still fresh over those that are beginning to wilt. Blank notecards and envelopes. Some kits have you set with blank notecards and envelopes to decorate with your own pressed flowers. This a fantastic way to use them as decor. If you’re interested in this, it may be something to look for! Our patented design gives you everything you need to press flowers, foliage, plants, and leaves in a short amount of time.

Jewelry. Combine pressed flowers with resin, and you can make an amazing amount of jewelry. This includes earrings and rings in particular, as they are big enough to really showcase a flower. Most flower press kits include compact, user-friendly flower presses, which require just a cinch or a strap or the tightening of a screw to press down on the flowers and do its work. All that you need to do next is wait at least a week. Cut blooms and leaves as desired. You can either cut them off right below the bloom, or leave on the stem if you’d prefer. You may need to trim the stems, however, so they fit in the microwave. For leaves, you can leave them on the stem or pull them off and dry them individually.

Select your flowers, unscrew the wing nuts from the bolts, and remove the top board until you just have your blotting paper (or parchment paper) facing up. Although there are several microwave-safe flower presses, such as the Aboofx Microwave Flower Press, Microfleur is the top microwave flower press brand on the market and has served as a reference for the steps below. Alongside a photo or card: Try using the frame as more of a shadow box or collage to preserve a memory, occasion, milestone or season of life. Include a photo, invitation, card or other piece of memorabilia alongside your flowers! Place the photo in the center of the frame, or in one of the corners, and have a few blooms overlap it to tie everything together.
