Description

There is a test for MDR1 which establishes whether a Lurcher has a sensitivity to Ivermectin or other anti-parastic products which Lurchers with Collie in their ancestry are predisposed to suffering from. What about breed specific breeding restrictions?

Lurchers have a great reputation for silliness, much like many hounds, particularly Greyhounds, and may do some pretty bizarre and entertaining things. Socialising Lurchers at a young enough age helps them mature into more confident adult dogs and this goes a long way in making them more receptive to being trained in a positive manner. Much like Greyhounds they are sensitive by nature and therefore they do not answer well to any sort of harsh correction or heavier handed training methods. They do respond extremely well to positive reinforcement and high value food rewards which always brings the best out of these high energy intelligent dogs. Weight: the mean weight for this dog breed is about 60- 70 pounds / 27- 33 kilograms. They are not prone to obesity. Alexander, Donald R.;Diener, Richard A. 1958. Their turn of foot and agility has made them great competitive dogs that excel in dog racing and canine sports.Recommended: Poochons have risen to popularity following the designer dog craze in the 90s. Demand increased for small dogs that suit family and urban living and the Poochon was the natural choice for breeders looking to combine popular pedigree breeds.

London (Taylor & Francis), xiv + 727 pp. - get paper hereAll reputable Lurcher breeders would always ensure their puppies vaccinated before they are sold but as previously mentioned it is up to their new owners to make sure they are given their follow-up shots at the right time which should be as follows: Lurchers cannot be left alone at home for long periods of time. They need to be around their family members or at least be in a yard or enclosure where they can run around. What is the difference between a greyhound and a lurcher? Mori,M. 1982.
