I shall not spoil the story for those who have yet to see the movie, but I will say that, in my opinion, this movie is for a more mature audience than one would think. What Jeff was able to do as an outsider who wasn't so attached to the story was to really let his imagination go free and make up this world in a wonderful way", David said. It is a charming, loving, and magical tale about a boy and girl who become friends and each is a little different, and they find a forest and make it there magical world, but then tragedy occurs. Though difficulties fill their ordinary lives, Jesse and Leslie rule as king and queen in Terabithia. For the next few days, Jess and Leslie spend their free time in the treehouse getting to know each other.

Patrick explained that he related to the story because he was "constantly creating imaginary worlds as a kid" himself, and that the film's setting reminded him of where he grew up. Robb also conversed with producer Lauren Levine before casting even began, and "their conversation convinced her that, without a doubt, AnnaSophia was meant for this role". From what I had seen in the trailers, I thought the movie would be about two kids that end up in some magical world, similar to the Chronicles of Narnia (clearly, I did not read the book). The big twist in the final act is emotionally devastating, even for an adult movie, and brings the characters and the audience back to reality. Csupó stated that he was interested in making the film because he "had the ambition to do a live-action film for a long time", but that he "didn't like anything until I read this book".Delightful visuals, combined with a cloyingly overblown, but nonetheless lively score by Aaron Zigman sustain a moderate degree of entertainment value, while capturing a sense of wonderment, though not quite with as much genuineness as the convincing performances.

Bridge to Terabithia is a 2007 American fantasy drama film directed by Gábor Csupó from a screenplay by David L. Weta visual effects supervisor Matt Aitken explained that process involved in interpreting the creatures was "split into two steps". Robb's character Leslie claims it's "a place just for them, where there are no Janice Avery's or Scott Hoager's (local bullies). He apologizes to May Belle for snapping at her and then invites her to Terabithia, where the siblings agree to rule together, with Jess as the king and May Belle as the princess. With that in mind, they "tried to do the absolute minimum, which would be required to put it into a movie version". Rather than being a fairytale for youngsters, the movie actually gives the viewer an inside look in a young boy's life and all the troubles he faces, concerning school, family and friends. Shoot, maybe I'm just worried because you know that a coming-of-age drama with prominent fantasy elements is just begging to be cheesed up by the usual subtlety issues of Neal Morse-I mean, Disney (I've got Transatlantic stuck in my head, so after this review, I might need to go take, oh, say, an hour or so to listen to one of their songs).

The filmmakers cast Robert Patrick as Jess's hardworking and strict father based on his previous roles in the films Walk the Line, Flags of Our Fathers, and the television series The Unit.

Jess says Leslie is gone forever, but his father tells him she will never be as long as he keeps her memory alive. Overall, I found the movie very enjoyable, but I would advise parents of young children to find out more about the movie, before deciding on whether or not you'll let your kids watch it. Elliot Lawless as Gary Fulcher, one of Jess's bullies who serves as the inspiration to the hairy vultures. He also said that he took on the role because he wanted to star in a film that his children could watch. The film was Michael Chapman's last film as a cinematographer before his retirement and eventual death in 2020.

Leslie's costumes in the film were designed to look as if the character "might have made some of them herself", and they were updated from those described in the book to reflect what would currently be considered eccentric. Oh, whether the lyric be super corny or not, Neal Morse does enough damage with his cheesy vocals, but boy, he knows how to prog rock on a keyboard, and that kind of flare is worth waiting for, something that I kind of wish I could say about this film. Hutcherson won "Best Performance in a Feature Film – Leading Young Actor", Robb won "Best Performance in a Feature Film – Leading Young Actress", and Bailee Madison won "Best Performance in a Feature Film – Young Actress Age Ten or Younger". We needed someone who could go from an introverted boy in an isolated world to someone who completely taps into his imagination and becomes a confident, brave leader in Terabithia.

As cheesy as this film is, someone was bound to mess up in this cast, but really, most everyone on the screen convinces in the character portrayals more so than the filmmakers do, and that especially goes for leads Josh Hutcherson and AnnaSophia Robb, who share electric chemistry, bookended by individual charm and even a degree of effective dramatic layering. With regard to the character, Robb said "[Leslie]'s one of those people who's just always lit up, who has this glow about her, and no one can bring her down. It's debatable whether or not filler holds substance, as most beats in this story reinforce coming-of-age thematic depths, but they're ultimately too repetitious to be all that engaging, and some serious incoherencies to a near-unstructured plot body are by no means helpful. It received positive reviews from critics, with praise for its visuals, cast performances, and faithfulness to the source material.
